Features

Spend more time working and less time switching equipment with easy implement swaps

Drive-over deck makes connection simple Drive-over deck makes connection simple

1 Family Tractors are designed to minimize the time and effort needed to switch-out implements to accommodate different jobs.

  • AutoConnect Deck System: Connect a mid-mount mower deck to the tractor in less than 60 seconds without leaving the seat except to lock the gauge wheels.
    • Load-N-Go attachment: Easily move your 54D or 60D AutoConnect Deck with your John Deere Loader after it has been disconnected from the tractor with the Load-N-Go ramps.
  • Quik-Park™ Loader System: 120R Quik-Park™ Loaders are designed for easy mounting and removal in about a minute, with no tools needed.
  • Quik-Tatch™ front hitch: Save time switching front implements like a snow blower, rotary broom, or front blade without tools.
  • iMatch™ quick-hitch: Easily hookup Category 1 implements in seconds using three fixed points to back in and pick up rear implements without leaving the seat
    • Position control hitch: Set the rear hitch height and then consistently lower the hitch to the exact height every time, which is especially useful in grading and leveling applications.
  • Quik-Knect™ system: Connect power take-off (PTO)-driven implements quickly and with low physical effort. The Quik-Knect system utilizes one connector for the tractor’s PTO shaft and a designated connector for each implement which eliminates twisting and forcing splines to align.

1 Family Tractors can have up to three implements mounted simultaneously due to standard dual selective control valves (SCVs), allowing you to switch from using one implement to another without stopping to adjust. When a third SCV kit is added, the number of possible combinations is greatly increased.

Quickly and easily change speed and directions with Twin Touch foot controls and Hydrostatic transmission (HST)

Twin Touch™ pedals Twin Touch™ pedals

The hydrostatic transmission’s infinite ground speeds and direction of travel are both controlled with the Twin Touch foot pedals.

  • Ideal for loader or mower applications where frequent direction and speed changes are needed
  • No clutching for fast direction changes
  • Match the job at hand with infinite ground speeds

Excellent maneuverability and easy operation with standard four-wheel drive (4WD) and power steering

Standard 4WD and power steering make 1 Family Tractors excellent for mowing Standard 4WD and power steering make 1 Family Tractors excellent for mowing

Both 4WD and power steering are standard equipment on the 1 Family Tractors. This combination allows for excellent maneuverability and ease of operation.

  • Narrow overall width allows you to work in tight areas where most compact tractors just cannot fit. The 144.8-cm (57-in.) wheel base and 119.4 cm (47 in.) overall width gives great stability for all types of terrain.
  • Power steering means fewer turns of the steering wheel than manual steering, which is especially valuable when mowing around obstacles or during front loader work.
  • High horsepower-to-weight ratio makes the 1 Family Tractors a good choice for a variety of tasks. The overall tractor weight reduces ground compaction and makes them excellent for mowing.
  • The fully-independent power take-off (PTO) allows engaging and disengaging of the PTO without stopping tractor movement. This is important when driving across obstacles such as driveways while mowing.

One of the greatest customer concerns involves difficulty in attaching tractor implements. John Deere has addressed this issue with the iMatch Quick-Hitch.

The iMatch Quick-Hitch provides easy hookup and a guaranteed fit for all Category 1 implements that are designed to meet the ASAE Category 1 Standard S278.6 for quick-attach hitches.

  • All implements require a set of bushings in order for the attachment to fit and work properly with the iMatch Quick-Hitch. One set of bushings comes with the iMatch Quick-Hitch.

NOTE: In the picture above, you see the bushing set. These bushings allow the hooks on the iMatch and the pins on the implement to fit together properly. All other implements (box blades, tillers, rear blades, etc.) will require a set of bushings to enlarge the pin to fit with the iMatch hooks. Bushings of different lengths can be found in the parts system or through a bushing supplier (see dimensions below).

  • Upper bushing
    • Inside diameter: 0.76-0.77 in.
    • Outside diameter: 1.24-1.25 in.
  • Lower bushings
    • Inside diameter: 0.88 to 0.89 in.
    • Outside diameter: 1.43 to 1.44 in.

The tractor is great

4/5

We purchased this tractor from the Casey, IL dealer (at that time it was Alliance). The tractor was equipped with the backhoe, so therefore the lift arms assemblies were not on the tractor. I was promised the kits but I have been unable to get it, now the dealership (alliance) has sold to Sloan and they know nothing about this and are telling me that I will have to buy the arms assemblies. It is standard equipment and I do not feel that I should have to purchase them.

My old John Deere was a good purchase about 15 years ago. It's current replacement is a very good machine with good safety features and mechanical/electrical upgrades to make it an even higher quality tractor. The back hoe attachment is more user friendly with its own seat , improved locking system when not in use, well-marked functional control labels, well protected hydraulic hoses, good under-the seat storage cylinder for small tools, clear attached instructions for use of hydraulic controls, better parking brake system with user-friendly handle.

I purchased my 1025 a couple months ago. I have wanted this machine for years but kept putting it off. Recently I learned about the financing options John Deere has and decided to buy. It has really been helpful around my property and I feel it will make a huge difference in the future. I’m just a regular guy who isn’t getting any younger, this will assist me keeping everything done the way I want.

My new 1025R Sub-Compact Utility tractor is a fine machine. It was a replacement of my old (approximately 15 year-old) tractor). I like the additional safety features as well as the more subtle refinements on the new machine that makes it safer and even more user friendly. Great engineering on a relatively small machine.

Versatile small yet powerful machine

5/5

This was a recent purchase, however I have done a few small projects already. Small yes. And that’s part of the beauty of the 1025…. I can maneuver through tight spaces on my property, yet still do the work that a much heavier and larger machine would do. This was a great investment!!

Choose your dealer wisely

3/5

I love the tractor the reason for the 3 stars is the with dealer and the third function. The dealer gave me a fair price for my trade the problem is with the third function. Instead of putting a John Deere third function and put a wr long and there mechanic run the line where the backhoe would not come off. And he zip tied the lines to the hardlines for the bucket and they got caught while using the grapple. But I love the way they moved the parking brake. I just wish they would put the backhoe connections where they just plug in like they used to do like scv.

Well made machine!

4/5

I like my new 1025R JD tractor. However, not having a small a/c unit is disappointing because it will get very hot in this factory installed cab. Yea, you can crack open the front and back windows and hope they don’t rattle apart. Yea, you can remove the doors and hope you don’t break them while trying to find space to store them for a few months. I bet a small a/c unit could have been made and installed on this smaller tractor. Just think how the sales would go through the roof! Then I could truthfully say “I love my machine” with 5 star review.

The only thing I do not like about the tractor is the fact I have to put the tractor in neutral before I can dismount. This creates a situation where the tractor can roll. On my 3320 I can get off with it in gear which holds the tractor in place unless on a hill.

Old man’s helper

4/5

Bought this tractor in September. Now have 40 hrs on it. Made a few mods, to make more functional And comfortable. Does exactly what I want it to around the farm among the larger tractors. No mower, but loader and forks which are exceptionally handy. Pulls a 48” rotary mower with ease. Loader lifts 850lbs above 4’. Only complaint that is inherent to all subcompacts is the small diameter tires makes the rode “choppy” by feeling all the imperfections in the ground that you run over. A small price to pay for a nicely built “helper” that will let an old man not hurt himself with chores to be done.

John Deere 1025R - If you have arthritis,

5/5

I bought this tractor to replace my Kubota that I had been using to do stall cleaning and other lighter work around the farm. Because of arthritis in my right knee, I had difficulty with using the treadle that controls the forward / reverse on the Kubota. The John Deere tractor has two pedals that sit side by side that controls the forward / reverse motion and is a lot easier to operate and doe not cause any knee pain at all. If you need a smaller tractor to get in and around tighter spaces, You should consider this model. The open platform allows for an unobstructed view while your cleaning stalls or doing landscaping. And there are a lot of after market accessories that you can add on to personalize it for your use.

Great tractor for an urban farm

5/5

I am grateful for my 1025R. It is well-built and has many features that meet my needs on my urban farm. The drive over mower deck does a great job -- and it is so great to have the drive over feature for maintaining the deck. The loader is excellent, as it helps me to efficiently turn my compost piles, haul wood chips around, and level uneven spots in garden areas. I also have the material collection system - MC2120, which is very efficient in picking up leaves in the fall. I can dump the leaves from the tractor right in my composting area.

4/5

Overall happy with my new 1025R. The new style seat and the way that the 54D auto connect deck latches are an upgrade from my 2015 model year 1025R. There are however things that need to be changed. The ROPS needs to be shorted to fit under a 7ft garage door which is standard height. The park brake needs to go back to being locked is place with the brake pedal and not the park brake lever. It is a tripping hazard to have the park brake lever on the right hand side next to the seat. It is too easy to catch your foot on the lever when getting on or off of the tractor on the right side. Bending the four wheel drive lever over instead of leaving it straight up was a step backwards. It is very inconvenient to have to reach down every time I want to engage the four wheel drive. I guess this is why a fellow is making and selling a lever that clamps on to the four drive lever to bring it back to along side of the seat. The inline fuel filter under the left side of the platform needs to have a shut off valve put in-between the fuel tank and the filter or better yet move the filter to a more accessible location to make it easier to change.

5/5

Very versatile sub compact tractor with a tight turning radius that’s able to get in tight areas. You can install or remove the loader within a minute with the single point connection without getting off the tractor. The mid mount mower with the quick connect works as advertised however it is critical that it is adjusted correctly to work as advertised. I highly recommend if you’re not familiar with the proper adjustment procedures you have your dealer demonstrate and thoroughly go over it with you. Don’t assume it was properly set up and adjusted correctly at your dealer. (ask me how I know) Proper ballast is also very critical on these small tractors especially if doing any heavier loader work.

I like the 1025 tractor as it has made much of the work needed is now allowed me to accomplish alot of the heavy jobs. I've move about 5 truck loads of tree mulch expeditiously over doing it by hand. I ha 200 feet plus of driveway up the hillside to the house with 2100 sqft of parking space. Which will be reworked. Using the tractor for awhile I would like to have outrigger stabilizers. Attach to each side of the anti rollover bar. Mechanical hand operrated slideout and pin it in place. Rear bucket implements have more robust ones. Weld on hooks should be standard equipped.

Purchase tractor about 2 month ago to help maintain lakefront lot. Backhoe works great, pallet lift and front loader easy to swap out. Backhoe little cramped to get into. Ok after you get into position. There are a lot of controls that need explanation, a single sheet showing all controls and their function would be helpful. Over-all the 1025 is easy to use and a joy to operate.

Some Good and Some Bad

3/5

I bought the tractor to mow grass. I have a problem with uneven mow height. If I set it up as described by you, it scalps the lawn. I've set it up as described in a youtube video and it doesn't scalp but it cuts at uneven heights from one side to the other. I replaced an old ingersoll tractor with a 60" deck which cut very evenly and have gone back to that because of the problem. The best part of the JD is the ease of mower and loader removal and remounting. The ROPS is a pain, it's too high an has to be folded to get into my garage,

1 month in and very excited/happy. Former lawn tractor owner which is not a tractor clearly as I know now. This thing is next level, Seems solid as a rock so far, I love it. So many gadgets, like the salesperson told me this is the swiss army knife of tractors which I think sums it up.

Stay away from John Deere!

2/5

I purchased a 1025R two years ago after buying a 10 acre ranch. I should have been advised by the salesman to go bigger. That being said, the 1025R does what I need, when it isn't broken down. This thing has been in the shop or repaired by me no less than 10 times with just over 200 hours on it. Everything from little things like belts to the iron cast rear that supports the three point. The cast iron broke on this thing. This is the worst thing I have ever had, and I used to have a Pontiac Fierro and have two ex-wives. The guidelines say to avoid mentioning customer service and to contact them instead. I did that and never received a response. As of late, my 1025R has been in the shop for the last two weeks and no ETA of when I will get it back. Stay away from John Deere.

I bought tractor a while ago.About a month. It does every thing I expected. I never really had a real tractor until now. Moved to TN from Chicago 4 years ago. I do have a vintage 1987 Hydro 175. Still runs great! Correct, Nothing runs like a John Deere. It's a 1025R, also bought X3350 a week later.

Great tractor in small package!

5/5

I was a little unsure about the 1025R when I first went to my local John Deere dealership. I thought it was too small for my needs. I have a 4 acre lot I recently purchased as a rural homestead. After talking to the sales rep, I decided to go with the 1025R. I have been very impressed with the overall performance. This is my first tractor and I am glad I saved the money by going with the 1025R. I have used the box blade, front loader and post hold digger and all have worked great. This is one tough little tractor that I am looking forward to using for years to come.

Not John Deere's best effort.

3/5

I have owned over 70 John Deere lawn tractors over the years. One of the mowers I currently own a 755 with mid deck and loader, much of my comparison is to this tractor. The 1025 has improved power and better hydraulics, two shortcomings of the 755. The 1025 steering ratio is quite slow and when I trim around posts it seems like endless cranking on the steering wheel. I like the tight turning radius but is can also be a problem when the front wheels slip and peal the grass. The 755 has turning brakes which help with tight turns especially when the ground is damp. Low gear with this tractor is a little too slow for general mowing. The 755 low gear allows me to run there most of the time with adequate speed. Our yard has a fairly steep road bank and with the 1025 in high gear the forward pedal is difficult to push when ascending the hill and it really pulls the engine. It is time consuming to have to constantly switch gears at the hill. The 755 low gear works well for all my mowing. The position of the front wheel assist lever is very awkward on this tractor. I often use the front assist when descending the bank. The location on the 755 is much more convenient. The reverse button is also a pain. I often raise the deck when backing and with the button and hydraulic lever on the same side it requires extra time to perform both operations. I wish the reverse lockout could be overridden for the entire term of a mowing session. I noticed that Deere stepped the front lip of the mower deck up above the blade height. I have never seen this on a Deere mower and it leaves the blades exposed to curbs and other obstructions. The front mower wheels on the 1025 are fixed and on uneven ground tend to dig up the grass. The wheels on the 755 caster reducing this problem. If the 755 had the 24HP engine it would be a better tractor in most every way.

5/5

I really like my new 1025R. It handles all my mowing needs well. I had to put some fluid in the tires to make mowing my ditches safer, but other than that, I love it! I really like the 2 pedal system for forward/reverse. One thing that I’m not crazy about is the parking brake lever. I seem to bump it every time that I get off the tractor.

Great Tractor

5/5

I bought this tractor back in April. My wife and I have both used the tractor several times and now have over 20 hours on it. We have 1-1/2 acres and take care of an additional 3 acres for family. I definitely consume less fuel being diesel compared to gas. One of the things I like about the John Deere 1025R is that this tractor has been around awhile so there are plenty of video's out there to watch to help me understand how to do certain things including maintenance on tractor. I especially appreciated the salesman having my wife and I do the demo at dealership before purchasing so that we could see how easy it was to take on and off the bucket and mower. John Deere has done a fantastic job engineering the quick attach - detach functions.

I am pleased with the tractor, however, I am not pleased with the rope overprotection bar. It interferes with the three-point hitch attachment.Dang!! If the top of the bar was approximately 4 inches shorter so that it could be let down so as not to interfere with the three-point hitch would certainly make me enjoy the 1025R much more. knowing this, I would have probably chosen a different tractor manufacturer. if a different rollbar should become available for my 1025R add no expense to me and correct these flaws I would certainly be much happier
