The 22-hp (16.4-kW) V-twin engine used in the S220 Tractor provides plenty of power and torque to handle tough mulching, mowing, and bagging conditions:

  • V-twin cylinder design for greater torque, lower vibration, and improved sound quality
  • Large, 44.2-cu in. (724-cc) displacement
    • Plenty of torque helps to get the job done fast.
    • Large displacement engine increases the ability to get an even cut without mowing a second time.
    • Camshaft and carburetor designs create the optimum torque rise for rapid response to varying load conditions.
  • Electronic ignition for fast starts
  • Cast-iron sleeves for longer engine life
  • Overhead valves for excellent power and fuel economy
  • Full-pressure lubrication and oil filter for keeping the oil cleaner for a long engine life and extending the time between oil changes; full-pressure lubrication is also more effective when operating the tractor on an incline
  • Excellent serviceability with easily replaced air filter, fuel filter, and oil filter and a convenient oil-drain hose to make draining the oil easy and clean

Accel Deep 42A Mower Deck Accel Deep 42A Mower Deck

The 42-in. (107-cm) Accel Deep Mower Deck is a stamped-steel, deep, flat-top design that delivers excellent cut quality, productivity, cleanliness, durability, and versatility. Optimal performance and dispersion of clippings is provided, even at faster mowing speeds or in tall grass:

  • 4.97-in. (12.6-cm) depth throughout the entire deck shell for optimum mowing, mulching, and bagging performance
    • Optional MulchControl™ system provides superior mulching performance and versatility
  • Stamped-steel design eliminates sharp edges and corners where material can build up and diminish mowing performance
  • Mower deck suspended from the vehicle for a smooth and level cut
    • Adjustable mower wheels, positioned just above ground level, help reduce scalping
  • 0.25-in. (6.4-mm) cut-height increments allow the mower to be set at the desired cut height
  • Compatible with efficient 6.5-bu (229-L) two-bag material collection system
Excellent cut quality
42A Mower Deck top 42A Mower Deck top
42A Mower Deck underside 42A Mower Deck underside

Deep mower-deck stamping gives excellent cut quality. It allows the cut and suspended material room to exit the deck without getting recut:

  • Reducing the amount of recutting enables more power to be used to cut incoming grass, which greatly improves mower capacity.
    • Helps maintain excellent cut quality at faster mowing speeds
  • Clean flow of material out of discharge area prevents cut material from interfering with cutting the incoming grass, making it possible for the blades to cut incoming material cleanly.
  • Even in mulching mode, cut evenness is improved compared to other designs because the additional depth allows for continuous circulation, optimal recutting, and an even distribution of clippings.
Productivity - gets the job done fast

Right side of Accel Deep mower deck Right side of Accel Deep mower deck

Deep mower-deck stamping gives high productivity, which gets the job done fast. It allows the cut and suspended material room to exit the deck quickly, reducing the amount of recutting so more power is available to process incoming grass:

  • Greatly improves mowers capacity to maintain excellent mowing performance in difficult mowing conditions and at higher speeds

Large discharge opening is both high and wide to handle more material:

  • Gives a smooth, even discharge of clippings at all mowing speeds
  • Reduces the chance of plugging, especially important when operating in wet, thick, or dense grass and when bagging
  • Cut-and-throw chute has a large, optimized inlet which aids in collecting material by using airflow from the large deck opening
Cleanliness - for the mower and the operator
Accel Deep 42A Mower Deck Accel Deep 42A Mower Deck
Accel Deep 42A Mower Deck Accel Deep 42A Mower Deck

The flat-top shape of the deck stamping is optimal for keeping itself and the operator clean:

  • There are few places to catch and hold material on top and underneath the deck.
    • Top of deck stays cleaner, reducing time and effort needed for cleaning and service
    • Underside of deck is self-cleaning to maintain optimum performance without buildup of material to interfere with the flow of air and clippings
    • Less need to clean and remove buildup of material from underside deck
  • The depth of the Accel Deep mower deck minimizes the amount of material that escapes from the front of the deck
    • Limited amount of material to drift onto the operator and mower deck
    • Even flow of material discharged out the chute, less recutting results in larger pieces that are less likely to end up on the operator
    • Mulching prevents the discharge of material completely and MulchControl makes mulching a practical solution for most mowing situations.

Cleaning a mower deck, both top and bottom, is one of the most frequent maintenance activities:

  • The flat-top design reduces places for material to build up and makes material that does collect easy to remove.
Mower wash port Mower wash port

Mower deck wheels are double captured for durability Mower deck wheels are double captured for durability

The 42A Mower Deck has strong spindle pockets, to keep the blades aligned, even after years of tough service:

  • Ribs in the deck shell add strength where it is needed.
  • The 42A has a 16 percent heavier overall weight than the Edge™ Xtra 42-in. (107-cm) Mower Deck.

Mower wheels are double captured:

  • Provides greater strength and durability for longer, trouble-free life.
  • Single-bolt adjustment makes setting wheels to the correct height for the cutting height quick and easy.

Low-tension belt-drive design reduces the side load on the engines lower bearing and mower deck bearings for longer life.

Rolled outer edge of the deck provides extra strength and protection.

Dual-stage E-coat and powder-paint coatings provide extra protection from rust.

Mower blades

High-lift bagging blades are included with the bagger chute. They provide optimum performance when bagging in difficult conditions, such as when the grass is moist, dense, or long:

  • High-lift bagging blades also work well when side discharging material.

Mulching blades are included with the optional MulchControl system. They can be used for mulching, side discharging, and bagging in most conditions.

The 42A Mower Deck is designed for maximum versatility, providing the greatest ease in changing from one mower discharge mode to another:

  • With an optional MulchControl system installed (along with the special mulching blades), changing from side discharging to mulching or vice versa is done with the simple flip of a lever or push of an electric switch.
  • The cut-and-throw rear bagger can be used with MulchControl by removing the rear MulchControl baffle (A) before installing the bagger chute. The baffle is held in place with two carriage bolts. To return to mulching, the chute needs to be removed and the baffle replaced.

48A MulchControl handle 48A MulchControl handle

The optional MulchControl system makes mulching more practical for many mowing situations because it not only does an excellent job of mulching, but it also allows the mower to be easily converted for times when it is more desirable to side discharge or collect the lawn material. Advantages of mulching grass clippings include:

  • Creates a beautiful looking lawn
  • Smaller grass clippings disappear into the lawn canopy
  • Reduces fertilizer needs
  • Grass clippings are not blown onto the operator, driveways, or flower beds
  • No need to dispose of bags of clippings
How MulchControl works
MulchControl baffle closed (shown on X300 42A mower deck) MulchControl baffle closed (shown on X300 42A mower deck)
MulchControl baffle open (shown on X300 42A mower deck) MulchControl baffle open (shown on X300 42A mower deck)

MulchControl is an innovative, simple design that is easy to use and maintain:

  • The MulchControl system includes an adjustable MulchControl baffle near the discharge chute and fixed baffles to control the flow of material under the deck.
  • The MulchControl handle is on top of the mower deck and is used to open and close the MulchControl baffle.
  • When the MulchControl baffle is open, most of the material flows freely out the discharge deflector or into a material collection system.
  • When the MulchControl baffle is closed, material stays within the deck and gets chopped into mulch and deposited in the turf.

MulchControl is well-suited to the following mowing situations:

  • For operators who usually mulch, but side discharge when grass gets too long
  • For operators who usually side discharge, but would like to close the chute to control clippings in some areas
  • For operators who always mulch a main lawn, but often side discharge secondary lawns
  • For operators who collect clippings but want to go farther before emptying the material collection system

MulchControl puts the operator in control of the clippings.

MulchControl limitations

While in the side-discharge mode, MulchControl still mulches about one third of the material. Therefore, the side-discharge mode is essentially a partial-mulch mode. This can be an advantage when side discharging or bagging, as it helps to reduce the amount of material being discharged. Other times this could work as a disadvantage:

  • When cutting strong southern grasses, such as Zoysia and Bermuda
  • When cutting in wet, high-growth conditions, such as those found in the Pacific Northwest United States
  • When optimum bagging and lawn cleanup is desired

When bagging with MulchControl on a 48A mower deck, the MulchControl baffle can be opened or closed with the Power Flow™ blower installed. The Power Flow blower runs without material when the baffle is closed.

Rear baffle (A) must be removed for bagging with MulchControl with 42A mower decks Rear baffle (A) must be removed for bagging with MulchControl with 42A mower decks

When bagging with MulchControl on a 42A mower deck, the cut-and-throw rear bagger can be used with the MulchControl blades. However, the rear MulchControl baffle (A) needs to be removed to install the bagger chute. The baffle is held in place with two carriage bolts. To return to mulching, the chute needs to be removed and the baffle replaced.

MulchControl compatibility

Each MulchControl system is an optional field-installed attachment and includes everything needed for handle actuation: baffles, handle, and mulch blades.

Great bagging system

5/5

At first I thought it was too big. It wasn't cutting level and leaving ridges. After the John Deere dealership sent a person to my home to balance the deck and blades it did a great job. I am now used to it and I love it. I have not had any trouble and really enjoy mowing my yard. Also my old 277 is some where between 25-27 years old and is still mowing and running like a champ. It just looks bad for the many years of mowing. Love my John Deere's.

I like the mower but the bagging system I purchased leaves a lot to be desired the door you open to remove bags is a pain! Doesn’t open enough and hard to get closed Have to reach in and clean the track of grass that the bags sit on to get them in all the way so lid will close. The old 150 bagger system was much better that I had on my older John Deere. Need to come up with a better system

Love it !

I purchased the S220 riding lawnmower about a month ago and have used it 4/5 times and so far so good with Plenty of power, turns well and plenty of room for the rider. Only thing that could be changed is the floating fuel level gauge, not really a fan of that.

Second John Deere mower. First one lasted 21 years of successful service and use. Expect nothing less of this one. John Deere is synonymous with overall quality and durability. Have a very sloping lot and this takes to the terrain beautifully. Wide tires and stability help tremendously. Have had Craftsman, Poulans, Huskys, etc. but have always favored the Deere family and reputation. Another Deere product just purchased and love is the mini excavator. Keep up the Deere legend!.

Quality Machine

5/5

Machine is everything I had hoped for, easy to operate, excellent mowing results and overall typical John Deere quality. Have the mulch attachment and it does a great job. Routine maintenance such as oil changes, etc. should be easy to accomplish as well. Looking forward to many years of dependable service from this lawn tractor.

Confused by "IMPROVEMENTS" over my old tractor

1/5

I bought this a month ago and very confused about the "improvements" over my LT150. 1 - adding gas is 3x as hard 2 - Uses 2x the amount of gas 3 - The bagging system is not intuitive when you need to clear clogs 4 - My leg hits the height controller when I get in and out and sometimes I don't notice the height change quickly 5 - Not 100% sure but I THINK the exhaust burns my lawn while I am emptying my bags

I purchased my S220 lawn tractor a month ago and it is a pleasure to operate. The tractor provides an excellent cut and is the most attractive in the neighborhood. I enjoy using it so much I cut the grass weekly. This was a great purchase. I should have purchased a John Deere lawn mower sooner.

Tractor S220 Review: Efficient Mowing with a Few C

4/5

I purchased the Tractor S220 with a 42-inch deck about a month ago and have logged roughly 4 hours of mowing time with it. It's been a fantastic addition to my lawn care routine, especially considering I used to dread the days of manual push mowing, this little tractor even has a cup holder for those really hot days! This little tractor is a powerhouse, effortlessly tackling my one-acre lot in under an hour. However, there are a couple of minor issues I've encountered. Firstly, when the ground is damp from rain, it struggles a bit on my steep sloped areas, requiring me to carefully plan my mowing route to avoid any difficulties. Secondly, its fuel tank capacity is limited, necessitating a refill every other mow. While these quirks can be slightly inconvenient, they're manageable considering the overall efficiency and performance of the mower.

Make Mowing The Lawn Great Again

5/5

I bought the riding mower last month from helpful local John Deere dealer and it has been my greatest lawn care investment. Very easy to use for lawn cutting and leaf pickup as the leaf bag was game changing. I actually look forward to doing the lawn as it’s now kind of fun. Upgrade to riding mower as John Deere makes a great product.

Great and noticeable improvements over my LT160

5/5

My wife purchased the S220 for me a month ago, and I've used it twice already. What a great lawn tractor (so far)! My 18-year-old LT160 started having issues I simply couldn't remedy myself, so decided to take the plunge, and I do not regret it. Immediately noticed the S220 took less effort to drive, steer and turn; it was quieter; and it was a smoother ride. If I can get 18 years out of my S220, it should be the last lawn tractor I have to buy - fingers crossed!

Only used a few times since i purchased it before the season started. So far love it. I have a normal sized yard so it made it 10x faster then push mowing. Fun to drive and handled my grass like a champ. First time lawn tractor and hopefully it lasts

I’ve only mowed twice with it. So far I’m very happy. I bought from a dealer instead of the “big box stores” because of the quality. I was pleased that the price at the dealer was comparable to the big box stores. I also purchased the mulching kit for it and was very happy to see “Made in USA” on the parts

Deck leveling

3/5

The S220 does produce as clean/neat cut as my previous John Deere. I reported this to Middletown Tractor. They told me the deck may need to be leveled up. They told me there are instructions that came with the mower. I'm an older widow and I'm not sure I can tackle this job without causing additional issues. I believe this should have been done at the factory or the store prior to delivery. At the very least, they should have a tech come to level the deck.

Smooth Operator

5/5

I don't usually write reviews. However, there are some features of this machine that I noted, especially in light of my prior lawn tractor, a Craftsman 42" that I bought in 2007. I bought the John Deere because the Craftsman was falling apart after a great deal of use. Both machines were and are easy to operate. The Craftsman had a hydrostatic transmission which is something I wanted in a new machine. The John Deere has that. The Craftsman for its time had a very tight turning radius. The John Deere has that and to my surprise, turns even tighter without giving up stability. The Craftsman had a single cylinder 18 hp engine. The John Deere has a more powerful and smoother twin cylinder engine which makes it actually easier to operate. But the most surprising feature of the John Deere is the fuel capacity. The Craftsman had a 5 gallon tank. The John Deere has a 2.8 gallon capacity fuel tank which I am hoping speaks to better fuel economy even though the John Deere is a heavier and a more powerful machine! So far, I believe it does. This is my review, and I couldn't be more pleased with my new lawn tractor.

S220 Lawn Tractor, great workhorse

5/5

I bought my S220 the middle of January 2024. It has been about 45 days now, I have 7.8 hours on the meter. I have a mulch kit on my tractor, I have mulched a bunch of tumble weed and mowed my lawn. My S220 works flawlessly. I have a good sized rear tine rototiller that I made a hitch for, and hooked it to the tractor 🚜. I tilled a large plot of land I am going to put into grass, the tractor worked perfectly. I built a dump trailer for it, as well as I fabricated a plow with an electric actuator to raise and lower the blade. So far I have plowed snow, plowed a dirt mound, and plowed gravel. In each instance, the tractor worked great 👍. This lawn tractor is a beast, a real workhorse. I am 💯 % pleased with this little tractor. I need to give a shout out to PAPÉ MACHINERY in Fallon, Nv. For their being able to help me with the purchase, and after the purchase service, and delivery process.

Adequate but not great

3/5

So far I’ve only used it to clear snow a few times. It has been adequate. Pros: plenty of power for the snow blower, decent speed, starts right up, comfortable to sit and ride. Cons: really poor traction even with weights and chains, pain to get a shear pin from the dealer, the lever to raise and lower the snow blower is flimsy, controls are not intuitive. Overall it gets the job done but I’m not sure I would buy it again.

I bought my 220 over 2 years ago from my local Pape distributor and it’s a charm. I have just under an Acre to move which is ruff turf with no slope at all. More Power, smooth cutting

5/5

The Mower is much more powerful and a more comfortable fit. I do hope that they go back to the original setup of the LT160. That mower allowed a rider to engage and disengage the deck and raise and lower it with foot pedals. I will get used to the hand raising and lowering, but I'd rather have the original setup. Other than that-- smooth cutting. Also, wonderful service from my dealer- Virginia Tractor!

Nobody ever got fired for buying a John Deere!

5/5

I got tired of mowing my "just below an acre" with my electric mower... It took forever, and would invariably end up consuming more battery power than I had on hand - meaning it was a multi-day exercise. I had my eye on a John Deere for AGES, but never got around to pulling the trigger - glad I did! The S220 is perfect for my lawn. It's kinda bumpy, got a bit of a grade to it, and - not exactly what I'ld call "turf"... yet! Now I can mow the entire property in about an hour, AND I do it with a smile on my face. The best game has been to try and figure out "what's the best mowing path?". Bottom line - John Deere turned a weekend CHORE into a fun hour or so. Thanks!

John Deere S220 42 inch deck

5/5

I bought this in July, drove it around and decided to use my old riding mower until it died. Finally in September I used my new John Deere S220 lawnmower. The seat adjusts nicely, easy access to foot pedals.. I like the lever to engage the mower, and easy lever to adjust grass cutting level. The 42 inch mower deck is a good feature, cuts down on mowing time. I didn't like the gas fill location, it seems flimsy. Nolen, my salesman pointed out the awesome bumper guard, that feature is a must, especially mowing in congested areas. I have bought other competitor lawn tractors, and this being my third John Deere riding mower, I find nothing runs like a Deere .

S220 Upgrade

5/5

I traded in my old L100 mower after 19 years of dependable service for an S220. Of course a new mower feels good, but the upgrade to a V-Twin cylinder motor and heavier chassis was a great move. Very smooth operation and quieter than my old unit. Only complaint is the gas tank level “gauge” works with a float that has a lever that extends to a slot with levels marked. It is not very accurate and the actual level of fuel in the tank cannot be visually determined. The next model up has an electronic fuel gauge…maybe that works better. But overall am enjoying the new, more solid machine.

We purchase the S220 lawn tractor this year. It's the best gift a person could get. I am always looking forward to the grass growing faster so I can get on my mower and enjoy the peaceful time my tractor and I have together. I know it sounds crazy, but I really enjoy cutting the grass with it. My neighbor's mower quit, so I told her I'd cut her lawn for her, no charge. Her yard is almost an acre and I was done in record time. She was so grateful and very pleased with the results.

Not a big fan of the Accel deck

3/5

I bought my S220 for a few hundred dollars over the cost of an S120. If I had a perfect lawn with no dirt spots or mole tunnels it would be a great mower, but I don't have a perfect lawn and I kick up an incredible amount of dust and suck up an equally incredible amount of dirt with every back full of grass or leaves. Because of how the deck sits it also doesn't ride as high as my L110's deck did, meaning I hit roots and mole hills etc. that my L110 just rolled right over at the same cutting height. I am not a fan of the Accel deck design. I was also surprised at how much more gas a twin 22hp engine uses than my old 17hp single cylinder L110. To be expected I suppose. I was also told that the L110s bagging system would fit on the S220. That's about 60% correct. You can't use the old discharge connection fittings, that's an extra cost, and the final bits that go into the bags don't exactly fit either and need some creative modifications to work. But it does work now after some serious fiddling. I really should have spent the money getting my L110's transmission replaced and saved myself a couple thousand in the process.

Lots of Power and Amazing Cut

5/5

This is my 4th John Deere in my lifetime, and I couldn't be happier. I have 4.5 acres, not all of it grass, and I really want an X7xx series at some point. I bought this when my old LT166 broke down(transmission), and I am so happy with the power and overall operation of this machine.

Good mower

4/5

We have a short mowing season in the fall, but mower seems to do a good job so far. No issues to date. Mower is difficult to refuel with the bagger attachment in place. Should be relocated to the fender area.

John Deere is far and away the best source for lawn tractors and I know from my previous X300 rider that I can expect reliable long lasting performance from the new S220 as it goes into service on my residential property

Love the S220

5/5

I purchased an S220 to replace my 17 yr old LA105. Love the wider tires and the fully automatic transmission. Step on the gas & go. Reverse with blade engaged. The flip up spindle cover on cutting deck allows for quick cleanup. This mowers features have reduced my mowing time by 30 minutes on 1 acre lot. Have yet to find any drawbacks.

Great Balance in features

5/5

I have owned the S220 for 5 months now. The 22HP Briggs cyclonic engine is flawless, Starts immediately every time. Nice traction with 10" tires. Cuts even, turns on a dime and mulches leaves like a champ. I bought it over a zero turn because I have to cut grass in a steep ditch in my front yard. I am able to maneuver this tractor easily. I store it in my garage.

Everything you need in a mower

5/5

Bought my S220 at the end of the mowing season but was able to use it 4 times before winter. Excellent even cut across my entire yard, hydrostat drive makes it a breeze to vary speeds through different cutting conditions. Can't wait till next spring to start mowing again, love this thing.

Get what yoi pay for!

5/5

Bought this in the beginning of the summer, have some texture in my yard so had to find the sweet spot as far as height. Have a larger in town lot and this mower handles it well. I am a bigger guy, but it does well. Have a much kit and bagger system. Really a time saver in the fall! Also bought a tow behind trailer and plug aerator. Have everything I need to keep my yard looking it's best. Runs great, has sufficient power and the lift blades really make it effective in sweeping up lawn debris that has been mowed or in the Fall mulched.

Great product

5/5

I bought this riding mower nearly a month ago and absolutely love it . It operates smoothly and does a great job on the lawn cutting the grass and picking up the fall leaves. What I am not happy with is the dealer. I bought this as a "demo" and I think it was used for more than that. I didn't look under the hood or deck before buying, I should have. Under the hood the inside was very dirty and the air filter was clogged with grass clippings. The underside of the deck was caked with grass. I attached a hose to the flusher and it did not work. I removed it and found it completely plugged with a gooey substance; I had to use high pressure water and a pipe cleaner to unclog it. I wish the mower had come with a fuel shutoff valve as I hate storing a gas engine during the off season with fuel in the carburetor.

The only thing that keeps me from putting it to a 5 star is there is nothing protecting the exhaust. So when you stop to empty the bags it will turn your grass brown after a couple of days.

220 Poor Leaf Cleanup…

1/5

Bought a 220 to replace my 17 year old 115, each with a bagging system. For leaf cleanup, 220 is very, very poor. As you approach a bunch of loose leaves and debris, the 220 pushes out and sprays the leaves everywhere right before you get to them. My 115 did not disturb the leaves as I approached them and sucked up them up beautifully, especially from the left side, opposite the bagger. It took me more than twice as long with the 220, and with the bigger mower, more gas. Grass cutting is fine, but forget a nice easy fall leaf cleanup. Any suggestions I’ll gladly take them.

No better than our old L108

1/5

It has nothing that our old L108 don't have! Why would John Deere put a manual mower drive system and a old type gas gauge on a S220 series even the L100 series have those! If you want a good up to date riding mower, don't buy the S220, I did and I'm Very Unhappy with it

Blown fuse

1/5

I have less than 8 hours on the engine and it has died twice already. The first time the front assembly was replaced and the fuse "repaired". I was able to drive the tractor back to my garage to store it. The very next time I started the tractor, the engine died on me after about 2 minutes of run time. Completely disappointed in John Deere.

Cruise control

5/5

I bought this mower due to the reliability of a LA115 I bought in 2008 and that it has cruise control which I thought would make my mowing chore easier on my right leg ( I am a 100 per cent disabled vet ) . Upon my first mow I found the cruise didn’t work. The local dealer where I bought it came and got it , supposedly repaired it and brought it back. The next mow it still doesn’t work. I will have them come get it or try on site repair. Looking at it, it appears to be a sorry piece of engineering. Other than that it is an excellent machine.

Transmission

2/5

I recently purchased this three days ago, because I like a hydrostatic transmission , but when I let off the throttle on a slight grade, the machine still rolls, I called my dealer and the service department said this was normal, my previous mower was a cub cadet, and when I let off the throttle, it would stop and not roll. Very disappointed in the transmission. If this is not normal, please let me know so I can take this machine back.

We used it for a half hour before the belt broke. My wife was driving it for the first time when it broke. It nearly gave her a heart attack. I had to take it back to the dealer. They said the belt keeper was installed incorrectly from the manufacturer. So, that was an hour round trip, twice to the dealer.

Beautiful cut, great features

5/5

I've been using the new S220 for about 3 months now. The cut is flawless, presumably the result of the mulching kit that I ordered installed. It's a safe guess that this machine will make mincemeat out of fallen leaves in the Fall. The build quality of the machine is excellent. It took me awhile to master smooth navigation with this large machine, but comfort was finally achieved after 4-5 mowings. I learned early-on that most branded supplies (such as oil and filter) are less expensive when purchased from John Deere vs local stores or Amazon. The S220 cost about a thousand dollars more than I wanted to spend, however, it's an excellent machine.

Is this front wheels bearings sealed on this S220, no zerk for greasing. My manual does not mention greasing. My old L-110 had the zerk fitting inside the wheel. I had to turn the wheels left and right to reach the zerks for it. This lawn tractor steer the lawn nicely.
