Durable, efficient, high-torque 3-cylinder diesel engine provides adequate power
Power is provided by a durable and efficient high-torque three-cylinder Yanmar® TNV Series diesel engine.
This series of engines was developed to meet Tier 4 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) environmental requirements by featuring low levels of both exhaust and emissions.

Yanmar TNV Series engine offers these features:
- Economical for good cooling and long life
- Isolated engine provides reduced vibration and noise for the operator; indirect fuel injection uses a precombustion chamber to give the engine a smooth and quiet operation; aluminum-alloy piston with built-in steel struts are lightweight to reduce connection rod bearing loads and provide good heat transfer characteristics
- Design permits tighter tolerances and neutralizes expansion of the piston, thereby reducing blow-by gas and less noise from the piston slap
- Higher top rings on the piston and a thinner head gasket greatly reduces the volume of unburned waste gases and increases combustion efficiency
- Timing-gear teeth have a designed roll-off profile giving almost no clash, no noise, and no backlash
- High-torque reserve provides plenty of power under heavy load, yet retains excellent fuel economy
- Easy access to engine check and fill points on the right-hand side of the tractor by removing the side panels
- Fuel filter with replaceable element
- Full-pressure lubrication system provides filtered oil under pressure to all vital engine parts
- Glow plugs provide quick starts in temperatures down to -18°C (0°F) (Optional engine coolant heater attachment will assist starting under more extreme conditions.)
- Auto-bleed fuel system means there is no special bleeding required if the tractor runs out of fuel; this system will self-prime the injection pump, lines, and injectors, providing fast fuel recovery
- Key start and shut off eliminates fuel shut-off knob
- Electric solenoid shuts fuel supply off immediately when key is turned off
- See-through coolant recovery tank permits operator to check coolant level without removing radiator cap
- Dry-type air cleaner with safety element keeps dirt and other contaminants out of the engine
- Safety element (second filter) will protect engine if primary filter would develop a leak
- Protects engine when servicing primary filter
- Air filter restriction indicator is standard equipment on the 2025R Tractor
- Sealed-radiator compartment keeps trash and debris on outside of hood
- Horizontal exhaust discharges fumes away from the operator station, reducing noise and improving operator visibility and comfort
Yanmar is a trademark of Yanmar Company Limited.
Easy-to-use hydrostatic transmission (HST) increases efficiency
The 2R Series are equipped with a two-range hydrostatic transmission (HST) incorporated in a die-cast aluminum transmission case. Fluid under pressure transmits engine power to the drive wheels via a closed-loop pump and motor arrangement. Infinite ground speeds allow the operator to match the speed of the tractor to the job.
- No clutching for fast and easy direction changes
- Twin Touch™ foot pedals for quick and easy forward/reverse operation
- Transmission oil cooler cools transmission oil for longer transmission life
Safety features of the HST include:
- The tractor will only start with the range lever in neutral
- If the range lever is in gear when the key is turned to the start position, the instrument panel instructs the operator to shift to neutral
- The engine will shut off if the operator leaves the seat and the forward/reverse pedals are depressed
Two-range transmission
Transmission has two speeds - hi and lo range.
- The range lever is located next to the seat, conveniently within reach of the operator
- All tasks can be performed using two ranges on the 2025R which means less shifting throughout the day
Durability features include:
- Large forged one-piece trunnion shaft with larger support bearings that reduce vibration and noise
- Innovative transaxle combines an HST, gear reduction axle, and clutch
- Pressure side filtration allows the use of a fine-mesh filter
- One pump to supply charge pressure and implement A flow divider splits the flow to various circuits throughout the tractor.
- The transaxle has an oil cooler which provides improved hydraulic cooling performance
Fast and easy implement changeover offers versatility
- Front Quik-Tatch™ hitch makes changing front implements quick and easy
- All front implements (blades, brooms, and snow blowers) use a common hitch
- AutoConnect™ Mid-Mount Mower Deck, 120R Loader, and 260B Backhoe can be taken on or off within 5 minutes, and no tools are required
- Changing rear implements is a snap with the iMatch™ Quick-Hitch, which has three fixed points to back in and pick up a rear implement that is iMatch compatible
Implement compounding improves efficiency
- Loader, mid-mower, and a variety of rear hitch implements can be attached to the tractor at the same time
Optional premium independent mid lift system operates independent of the rear 3-point hitch. This gives the operator the flexibility to leave the mid mower attached when completing other tasks.
Superb serviceability improves productivity
Regular service and maintenance are essential to the performance, productivity, and longevity of the tractor.
- Two quarter-turn fasteners allow operators to easily remove the engine side panels without tools to access to the engine compartment.
- The under-hood gas-lift support provides easy access to the engine compartment and eliminates the need for a mechanical prop rod.
External hood latch requires no tools and can release using the tractor key.
Easy access to regular service points minimizes service time.
Daily service checks, such as checking the engine oil or water separator, can be done without opening the hood or removing the tractor side panels.
Tractors are equipped with a mechanical air filter restriction indicator that alerts the operator when the air filter needs to be cleaned or changed.
- All external engine, fuel, and transmission filters are easily accessible.
- Fuel tank is located on the rear of the tractor to allow for easy access when fueling.
NOTE: Always refer to the operator’s manual for complete maintenance and service recommendations.

Nice upgrade and noticeable difference
Traded up from a 22 1025, which got me hooked on Deere CUT’s and the ease of removing and attaching the FEL and mower deck. I upgraded for more stability and clearance that the 2025 offers and am truly impressed. The bigger tires make me feel much more planted to the terrain I mow and pulls my box blade and tillage tools better than the 1025. The 2025 really lets that Yanmar put the torque to the ground. I thought the FEL on the 1025 was easy to drop and attach, well, the 2025 is twice as easy. The added mowing height is nice as well. My only issue is that removing attaching mower is a little tougher, and the front drag links needs to really be watched as it wants to hang between the toolbox and FEL. We all don’t live on flatland or have concrete shop floors. Maybe a design review update in future models? But it is a minor issue that in no way would make me consider going back to the 2025. The upgrade in stability and torque is well worth it.

Good mower so far.
I owned two 1025r prior to purchasing my 2025r. The tractor is heavier than the 1025r and I needed something heavier to mow my church property. The property is full of mole hills so I needed the extra weight. I put two 6o lb. jd weights on and with the added weight of the tractor it added about 500 to 600 lbs. The only problem I am having now is the seat does not scoot back far enough to suit me, I am 6'1'' and I have NO leg room. This would be a much appreciated fix. I have several friends and their complaint and mine was the very weak seat on the 1025r. Please fix this problem. Everyone I have talked to would gladly pay extra for a deluxe seat.

Are they all lemons?
I was so excited to get my first brand new tractor. The first time I used the backhoe attachment, it blew hydraulic fluid everywhere. Most of the fittings had never been tightened. Next, the steering started leaking. Now at the two year mark, one of the front wheels falls off. The lug bolts all came out and of course, I get to buy new ones since the warranty is out. I have also found bolts in my driveway that have fallen off from somewhere on this thing. Be carefull if you buy one of these. I wish I had bought a Kubota at this point.

Great tractor!
I have put about 250hrs on my tractor, and it has been great! Other than general maintenance it's run like a Deere. :) I use it on 5 acres for hauling wood, dirt, mulch, and plowing snow on our 400' driveway. I currently use a front loader, pallet forks, 60" landscape rake, 60' rear blade and a Woodmax MX 8500G series woodchipper. The only thing I would consider doing differently is getting a tractor with a little more horsepower because our property has some hilly areas that tractor struggles some when a front and rear attachment is on at the same time.

emergancy brake is almost impossible to release
not happy at all first 2 hr. mower deck wheel shredded Than at 7 hrs from new mower deck brace came apart and deck was banging on supports while mowing. Have pictures. engine stops when pushing reverse peddle. When this happens on a hill tractor free falls backwards. I consider this very dangerous. Huge safety issue. No right and left brake for tight turns. Engine really smokes when first started.

Loving this compact utility tractor!
I am so happy with my tractor! I have already used the backhoe and front loader attachments quite a bit. They are simple and straight forward to use, attach, and detach. I also bought a land plane and rotary tiller as well, but have not use either so I can't speak about them yet. The tractor is very well made, as you would expect from such a respected name like John Deere. I have been so impressed with it all, from the dealer, delivery, the quality, ease of use, power, gas consummation, etc. John Deere, you have earned a loyal customer!

This tractor does all I need it to do
I waited to review this tractor until I had used it a while. Bought new in spring of 2023, I had traded my 1025R because I needed a bit more ground clearance without losing too much turning radius. I now have about 85 hrs on it and it’s been mostly bucket work (95%). The 54” mowing deck cuts well and gives a nice finished look. Used in all weather conditions it does property maintenance and logging during spring, summer and fall. We finally got enough snow and I got to use my 54” snowblower that was swapped over from my 1025R. What a dream this is moving that 12” of wind packed snow and sleet. This tractor does all I need it to do. From filling in a pool and moving rocks and boulders to construct a stream, to the logging I do almost weekly to gathering firewood for winter or the hours of snowblowing. Through it all I can sit comfortably and work for long periods of time. This machine surprises me almost daily in all weather conditions. I’d buy this again if I ever manage to wear this one out.

The tractor is good so far. The sales procedures from John Deere not so good. I asked the dealer salesman if any incentives were forthcoming from John Deere for buying a 2023 model and was told no, so I purchased my 2023 model tractor in January 2024. Then I see from John Deere a 2500 dollar incentive if you purchase a 2023 model after February 1st 2024. I would have gladly waited until February 2024 to make my purchase knowing I could save that money. I feel John Deere or the dealer owes me 2500 dollars or a 2024 model year tractor.

Perfect size for my use!
This was a purchase I struggled with the idea of purchasing for about 5 years. After last year's snow and the amount of time I spent out in the cold on my ATV pushing snow I made the decision. My only mistake was not ordering it sooner. When my tractor was delivered, unfortunately it had a couple of small issues. Me not ever having a new John Deere and never before dealing with a John Deere dealership, I wasn't sure what to expect. You would have thought that I purchased the most expensive tractor there was! A service tech was here the next morning and was joined by 3 more from the dealership later that same day. Long story short, they had my machine repaired and ready for use. I am very impressed with the quality of the machine and the people, from my salesperson, the service manager to the repair tech's!

Exhaust pipe is pointed to let the exhaust blow right onto the body of the Tractor. Also wish the interior cab light was a little brighter at times. Lastly with the heated cab it is difficult to fuel the Tractor. (Just a few small things) Otherwise Love the Tractor!

The couple switching from loader to grappler takes some time to get switched out. it can take 4 hrs to overnight. to relieve the pressure in the hose. so I am unable to go from one operation to another and then back because of this problem oh i called them and complained a man came to my house to show me what i was doing wrong but it still does it but getting better

The older model was way more comfortable. This one sets too high and Ives the feeling it’s unstable on hills. Whoever had the idea to take the fuel gauge off the dash and put it on the tank needs to be tar and feathered. I bought a John Deere not a Murry. It makes the machine look and feel cheap.

Another awesome John Deere Product for DIY'ers
Great tractor. I've owned a 318 for 34 years and did a lot of stuff with this tractor. Now buying the 2025R with bucket loader, plow, mowing deck and brush hogger I can't believe the amount of work and landscaping I can do on my property. JD hit the nail right on the head when they introduced and started refining these 2-sries tractors for DIY'ers.

Excellent tractor
My 2018 2025R was purchased during the coldest winter month in Southwest Michigan. Over the years I've worked this tractor on 15 acres... dug a 20x60 hole five feet deep, rototilled gardens, piled and removed brush, pulled down large climbing vines, trees, dug out tree stumps, cleared land for our house, made a driveway from scratch through a cow pasture, and accomplished so much more. The only thing that has been replaced over the years was a short bucket hose, one hose on the AV20F grapple, and the air filter bracket which JD came out and replaced. GreenMark Equipment has treated me very well thanks to Salesman Phil at the Mishawaka location. I must add though... I've maintained this tractor very well IMO, because I'm here to say this tractor now has 1027 hours showing. I have nothing to complain about.

2025R
I owned a 1025R for about a year put little over a 100 hours on it traded it in on the 2025R. I have around 50 hours on it now and I love it. Added liquid to the rear tires it pulls and pushes a lot more than the 1025r did because of the added weight and size of tires. Also seems to ride much smoother down the road. Both the 1025r and the 2025r are amazing little tractors. John Deere dealership has also been fantastic to work with.

Real work, real value. Buy a frame size up though!
After a couple of years with the Gen2 2025R, still love this machine for what it is and I'd buy it again for the jobs I do most of the time. It's a quality product that's very easy to maintain (except that one zerk behind a shielf on the front-middle of the darn drive shaft), efficient on fuel, does everything a tractor with a loader should do for a "pro-sumer" landowner. But you'll want to buy a bigger machine soon to do any heavy dirt work, feeding round bales to critters, any row crop farming etc. with more weight, stability, PTO horsepower and to reduce job times. And the 2025R is tall and MUST be properly ballasted permanently in the tires (or full set of wheel weights) PLUS the 3 point with at least 500lbs for any loader work. Even then, it will not handle the same slopes as heavier/wider machines will. Great size though to get into gardens and tight spaces and fuel efficient for bush hogging (4' bush hog), grappling good sized 10' sections of trees around 1' in diameter and respectable fork lift capacity and dirt moving and other loader work around the house and barn. And bush hogging (with a 4' bush hog) is a LOT nicer with the 2025R versus the 1025R as you're higher up above the debris. But that 120R loader isn't going to handle everything you'll want to do, particularly lifting above 4' high or so as it's spec'd to avoid lifting that lighter rear end of the machine off the ground. And you need to think about your attachment investment (4' or 5' attachments are a big difference in job times on the 3pt especially and VERY hard to justify the costs of upgrading these from 4' wide to 5' wide later to cover the tracks). If you can swing it, hold your nose and go up a 5' wide machine up front... unless the 2025R's lower total ownership cost, lower attachment cost, 4' width and maneuverability are more important criteria. Good luck shopping!

2025R
Bought new, 2018, 2025R Gen 2... This tractor has been great from the start. Have used the bucket, AV20F grapple mostly. I've just turned 912 hours on this machine, the only thing needing replaced was "one" short hyd hose for the bucket, and "one" hyd hose for the grapple. This tractor has been worked using common sense of experience, and proudly maintained by myself. I've been very happy with the choice of 2025R for my 15 acre homestead. GreenMark Equipment has been a great dealership since the beginning.

I bought this 2025R a few weeks ago. I now have about 7 1/2 hours on it, most of the use will be over the fall and winter months. But I have started cutting a road in through the back wood to haul wood when the time comes. I have spent the last 35 years around bigger tractors in the 50/60 hp range and I have to say, I love this tractor! I bought the bucket loader, forks, snowblower and ballast box. I highly recommend the ballast box when using the bucket loader. So far so good, great tractor for a small property owner!

2025R Big disappointment!
I recently traded my 2010 JD 2320 with a 62" drive over mower deck for a 2021 JD 2025R with a 60" auto-connect mower deck. I ordered this tractor and when it arrived this was sure a disappointment. The 2025R just seems cheap!! For example the individual brakes have been reduced to a single brake pedal, the drawbar has been replaced by a plate with a hole in it, the light that indicates that the 4WD is engaged no longer exists, the levers to shift the pto and hi and lo for the transmission seem very flimsy compared to the old solid levers, the rollbar no longer folds down out of the way, instead it folds down just enough to walk right in to it with your forehead when you try to walk behind the tractor and finally the pedal to lock the differential is just a rod that only sticks out about an inch. I was told by my salesman that there is an aftermarket pedal you can get for the diff lock. When I ordered this tractor I did not see the new models, but I went with 2025r Instead a 1025r because I didn't want to go backwards, but compared to my 2320 it doesn't seem to live up to the standards. I was told that the 2320 was made by Yanmar for John Deere and that the 2025R is made directly by John Deere this is probably the most disappointing part!!

Makes managing our land much easier
I bought the 2025R a few months back to help with my bad back. It's exceeded my expectations. We added forks, a rototiller, and post hole digger and now can do nearly anything we want. We've also used the tractor to do things that we never even thought about. While I wouldn't hesitate to buy again, I'd probably go with the smaller 1025R. While the 2025R is more stabile and comfortable for me, the 1025R would fit into smaller spaces.

I’ve had the 2025 Tractor for about 5 months and I love it, has plenty of power and works hard, but has couple of things that can be improved: Seat Suspension needed for harsh ride, and needs a guide on the mower deck front attachment for when removing and installing deck with loader on tractor.

Very happy 2025R owner
i have a 2019 2025R with loader, backhoe, 54D mower, rear Frontier blower and other non-Deere implements. It is used on our large forested property for all types of regular (mowing, snow) and periodic (box blading, digging, etc.) tasks. Perfect machine for our size property and usage pattern. While the 1025R is similar and very capable, the tire size, height, clearance, weight, ground speed, and stability differences more than justify this machine in my opinion. With tractors, more power and size is almost always better but I have found you need to buy for your expected usage and realistic "peak" uses to avoid buyers remorse. I have read about many upgrades created by just slightly underbuying. This particular tractor feels like and for me is one that allowed me to feel very satisfied without looking up at the larger frame 2-series or entry 3-series with tractor envy. This is a very capable and relatively affordable machine.

Love the 2025R!
Quick history - in 1975 I bought a JD210 - 10hp with 47" deck. Started every time I turned the key. In 2015 went from 1 acre to 3, so I picked up a 1023E. Tractor gets used by everyone in the family. To give you an Idea of to what extent let me just list the attachments we have. Mid mower with mulch kit ( wouldn't mow with out the mulch kit again, such a better cut. ) front loader, tiller, flail mower, bushhog mower, 2 bottom plow, potato plow, 6' disc, dry spreader, reese hitch for 3pt, back hoe, and quick hitch. So you can see why its so important that you can have multiple attachments on the tractor and operate them individually. The ease of changing attachments is KEY. I have installed and removed every single attachment I have in less than 30 min. just to win a bet with someone that didnt buy a DEERE. With 25 acres to tend you shuffle alot of equipment off and on in a day. Love the tractor.

A must have for small acres
I’ve owned my 2025r since 2/14/20 and now have almost 100 hours on it and to be honest I wished I’d bought it sooner. I have 3 acres that I maintain plus I use it to help maintain the adjoining woods of my neighbors. This tractor does it all! I use it to mow, spread fertilizer/lime for the several neighbors with my ss1023b, drag/haul firewood, push snow, heck, I even used it to remove my old asphalt driveway! Now it’s not a D-6 or a JD 750 mind you, but it’s still remarkable for its size! And I’ve run heavy equipment for several years! It’s definitely a multitasker! No problems with it so far either. My John Deere Dealer ( Meade in Wytheville,Va) has also been very helpful with implement decisions and getting the best deals and if needed, financing. I always owned red but now I believe Green will be my favorite color!
Pros
- manuverable
- multi tasker
- very easy to change implements
- comfortable for its size
- except for one zerk easy to service
Cons
- could use a little more power in high range

Does everything I put it through when it's not at dealership for repairs
Traded our 2012. 23hp sub compact tractor on a 2020 2025R this February. Put 24hrs on it managing 3acres and a large garden. Noticed oil under tractor after every mowing. Dealer has had 2 times now attempting to fix the mid pto seal. Each repair keeps leaking. The second time they have had over 4weeks trying to repair and and now we are being told John Deere is replacing the transmission. Very frustrating considering only 24hrs on the machine. I was raised on a farm with John Deere and work as a Heavy Equipment Operator and still love John Deere. Just hope they get it figured out. Hats off to dealer as they have been on top of things even going as far as making sure we have a mower when needed. Guess it's my turn to draw the short straw.

second lawn tractor to blow head gasket
I have been a loyal JD customer for the past 32 years. But, as of late, I am getting very frustrated with the product. My 2025R just blew a head gasket! It is 2 years old with 400 hrs. This is the second machine that I have owned that has blown a head gasket. No....I did not overheat the engine. My 1026R that I traded May 2018 also blew a head gasket with minimal hours on the engine. I have always been a JD fan but this is getting frustrating and very suspect. What is going on with the Yanmar Diesel that they are blowing head gaskets. I have antifreeze leaking out of the head gasket and dripping down the side of the block. Be on the look-out for this telltale sign of a blown head gasket. My dealer says this is unusual and I must be unlucky. What the heck John Deere? I am now dead in the water for 7-10 days without a machine and a ton of projects and grass cutting that needs to get done. I need a reliable product! Sincerely, loyal JD customer but fading fast.

I recently purchase a new 2025R and I absolutely love it. I purchased several addition implements To help manage my property such as a Brush Hog, Box Scrapper and my favorite a Backhoe. Tractor is close to my 30 year old John Deere 855
I like the 2025R for the most part and in the market for a new John Deere tractor. Mostly for my experience with my John Deere 855 which will be 30 years old this year. My 855 has been extremely dependable and I have only needed to replace the battery and other small maintenance items such as oil and filter changes. With this legacy, I'll purchase another John Deere. I've also looked at the modem 2032R and find it better suited for me. Although the 2032R has roughly 600 more pounds in weight, it also has 40 percent more in rear linkage capacity and front end loader capacity. Turning radius between the 855, 2025R and 2032R is only 6 inches difference. Tire sizes are within proximity to each other. Although the 2025R is a great machine and will suit most I have to pick the 2032R because, unlike the 2025R,it does not have a Limited category hitch which may limit lift height and linkage width. All in all, it's a John Deere and both great tractors.

fantastic little machine
Just bought a 2025r this year with loader and backhoe. I own a landscape construction company and was looking for a smaller scale machine to get into tight areas that all my other skid steers and excavators cannot get into. I was very doubtful at the beginning that this machine could perform to the needs that myself and my guys were looking for... but let me tell you i was very wrong. This machine has already become an essential piece of the crew. Even though it is very small compared to my other equipment , it can definitely hold its own. Plenty of power and super user friendly. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone. From a business standpoint , a happy crew is a productive crew and this machine alone has definitely ramped up production by itself. well worth every dollar invested.

Huge tractor in a small package
I have a 2014 2025r with 658 hard hours on a 62 acre Christmas tree farm. I run a 5' brush hog, 5' tiller and a 64" rear snowblower. It handles them all awesome with no problems. I have worked the snot out of this tractor and it only amazes me. The tiller and bucket combination has turned it into a little bulldozer. I have cleared a lot of brush and trees with the brush hog on back and forks on the front. I have a hard time believing the people who rated this low knew what they were doing. I do wish that manufactures including john deere would make a skid plate to protect the front drive shaft at the output end to keep tall weeds from wrapping around and snapping it. I built my own.

My First Compact Tractor
I researched this purchase for probably 2 years. My biggest struggle was is 2025R worth the extra cost over a 1025R. I must say that yes it was the increased ability is well worth the additional cost. I loaded the tractor up with options. 3rd function valve was the same as purchasing a diverter and is more capable option and a much cleaner installation. The Load N Go is great for working on the deck.

2015r with loader, backhoe, mid mower and pallet forks
Oil leak at rear of tractor. Loader leaks down quickly! From a height of 41" the bucket is on the the ground in 6 minutes. Raising the 3 point lever causes engine to labor. Will also cause independent mid hydraulics to raise by itself. Loader bucket is difficult to put on. Pallet forks fits perfectly as does my son's bucket from his 1025r Tractor was delivered with nuts and bolts loose and some pins missing. It you contact service is always 2 to 3 weeks before we can work on it. Yet they delivered it in that condition.
Pros

- very expensive
- service told me because i bought it in the

so far so good
doing various jobs around my 3 acres, i find this 2025 a nice size tractor. i have the loader and the oh so convenient backhoe attached fulltime. i find myself using the backhoe more. yes, you can stall it if you try grabbing more than its meant for. but just know the limitations of this size tractor and you can flogg it all day long and get a lot done without breaking a sweat. i just dont want a huge tractor. been there done that. if i trade in a few years i most likely will stay with J D. and move up to 2032 for that little extra asskick. otherwise it will be the same. such a good product. i used to be a design engineer for Cat and we always had to watch out for J D outdoing us for durability. J D is a good value for the money.

I have 2025 from 2014. I have been very happy with it.
I use have 350 hours on a 2025 from 2014. Mow, bushhog, load and grade gravel road. It has served me well. I keep in garage and have no issues with rust. Still looks great. If I got a new one I would get a bigger one I think. You can never have too much tractor.

tough and resilient
Bought this tractor 3 years ago to manage farming one acre and mowing several acres of rough field. I've beat the heck out of it with no problems and it continues to perform well. It has excellent 4WD and is capable of most small tractor duties. The front loader has been a life saver in preparing our dirt road annually.
Pros
- tough has not broken ever
- excellent 4wd
Cons

Mean little tractor
I was raised on a Texas Cotton farm and ran BIG Deere stuff (200-300HP tractors)all my youth years. Grew up moved to town only to find I really missed the country. Bought a small piece of land (30 acres)and needed a small tractor to work it. Purchased a 2025r with a front end loader, 48" Brush bull shredder and box blade. This little tractor is a beast! I dug a 20x40' pit 6' deep in near solid rock with the front end loader and teeth down on the box blade. I would break up the rock with a hand jack hammer into car hood or so size pieces and haul em out. I was VERY surprised how much power this tractor has and how much you can push in 4 wheel drive. The 48" brush bull with swinging hammer blades will mow ANYTHING smaller than 1.5" in diameter, Our place WAS covered in heavy thick central Texas Brush and Acasia bushes. This setup will mow em down flat in one slow pass. Prickly pear cactus is no problem either. I purchased a Frontier brand 54" rock bucket later that allows you to grub Cactus and move softball and bigger size rock with ease while letting the dirt fall through the "teeth". I just bought a 62D belly mower but have not used it yet as it id Jan 2nd as I type this review. I would highly recommend this tractor. I would say to any owner to put some good tire sealant in the tires as they will be flat if you run them in Mesquite or Cactus much. The tires are sorta thin IMO. Having said that I beat on mine pretty hard in sharp rock under heavy loads and haven tore a tire up yet...
Pros
- easy on fuel
Cons
- needs thicker/heaiver tires

2025R
I ordered a 2025R with backhoe and bucket and a 54 inch mower deck. I have had the backhoe rebuilt after a hour of use do to excessive leak down. I would disconnect it and it would just bleed off to the ground making it hard to reconnect even if I tried right after I took it off. The backhoe has no power and will not dig through the smallest roots. Tractor did not have the power to back up a slight incline with a full bucket of topsoil just wouldn't move. The drive on and off mower did not work as advertised when the John Deere mechanic was showing me how to use it the mower caught the bucket stand and bent a number of brackets up front. The neutral safety switch has no light and is hard to get to engage half the time the tractor is killed when you get off when you think you have it engaged.

2025R Great tractor from mowing to food plots and landscaping
I purchased John Deere 2025R. I carefully reviewed and looked at the 1025R. And must admit i was impressed. Nice little tractor. Loader, backhoe, mower I thought wow what more could you ask for. Then I reviewed and looked at the 2025R. Larger tires, more lift capacity on loader and stronger hoe. I wanted a tractor that could do it all and the 2025R was the one for me. I like the larger tires more stability less tipsy when going though woods to reach fields where I do food plots for deer. I purchased mine with the 130H loader(Quick Attach) and 270A backhoe. (Quick Attach) I LOVE this tractor. I have a 3 point 5 ' finish mower and a 5' brush hog and it handles them with ease. The backhoe has great power and you don't have to take off 3 point to install it. The 3 point is needed to hook it up. That's another key feature over the 1025R. I have nothing against the 1025R it is a bit more fancy nicer seat 12volt outlet storage compartment but the 2025R is more of a work tractor and all those extras could be added if you feel there necessary well worth the extra $$$$. For better lift and stability. I hope this helps anyone that's stuck between the 1025R and the 2025R like I was. But if your still not sure. I never heard anyone say I wish I Bought a smaller tractor.
Pros
- quick connect h130 loader
- 3 point stays on tractor to connect 270a backhoe
- step though floor board
- easy to check fluids
- stability with large tires.
Cons
- no arms on seat
- no tool box for pins etc.

Great Tractor
Owned a 1023E and traded up to the 2025r and it was a very good move. This tractor is the all around package. Small enough to cut grass with, but packs enough hydraulic and PTO power to do most anything I need it todo, from grading, rotary mowing, and seeding. Only found one thing I am a little disappointed with and that is what you have to go through to get to the main drive shaft front U joint grease fitting up by the engine. Wish they would have put the access panel through the lower dash pane, so you didn't have to loosen the whole dash to move it out of the way to get to it, but that is the only thing I have found that i don't care for. I defiantly give this tractor an A+. Great little machine.

Seems well built, but watch out....
With 60 hours on my new 2025R I was mowing a pasture with a flail mower on the rear when things went wrong. No belly mower was mounted underneath, and Deere for whatever reason does not install a guard to shield the 4' long propeller shaft that extends from the transmission to the front axle. Grass and weeds wrapped around the shaft building up the diameter until clearance around the shaft was gone. At that point the side pressure snapped off the splined stub that sticks out the front of the transmission where the shaft connects. It's a major repair which fortunately was covered by warranty. But there's still nothing to protect the shaft from this happening again. IMO, this is a serious oversight on Deere's part. What am I supposed to do now, install a mirror so I can keep track of it from the driver's seat? If not for the fact that I own other JD equipment that has served well my rating would not have been as generous.

Excellent little machine
My 2025R has 150 hours on it and has spread over 1200 yards of dirt using the bucket and box blade. At times the dirt was wet and very heavy. I have pushed it to the limits and it hasn't failed me once. The drive on mowing deck is also very well constructed and is extremely easy to install and remove. It cuts grass as good as a push mower. This is one quality machine!

Great Tractor with Front End Loader
I have owned my 2025 for just over a year and I can say I am 100% satisfied with the tractor. The front end loader is an absolute necessity and makes the unit twice as versatile as one without the loader. I use the tractor for a lot of different things, light plowing, bush hogging, disking, moving firewood, dirt, gravel and digging post holes. The dealer I have conducted business over the past has been excellent, but when I took the tractor in for the 50 hour maintenance I had one minor problem that I needed fixed. The lift arms on the rear of the tractor were not level, causing the bush hog and disk to cant to one side. Even with the leveling device on the right lift arm cranked all the way up, the implement was still not level. The right rear lift arm needed to be removed and moved one notch down on the spline to correct the problem. The dealer simply put a locking nut on the bottom portion of the lift arm leveling device. Not a fix but I will give it a try. Minor annoyance.

2025R
I Purchased my 2025R in March of 2015 with a 62 inch drive over a box blade and a tiller. The only thing i really had an issue with is the rattle from the heat shield. It actually broke i thought that was the reason for the rattle so i had it replaced and it still rattles so i just bent it out of the way. I probably should have opted for the 2032 as the 2025r bogs down on the hills i mow on.

I love my green machine, but.....
I've reached about 46 hours tach time in just under two months of ownership. I have the 2025R w/ H130 FEL & 270A backhoe w/ thumb/ 54D deck. Overall, I can't complain. I do like the machine a whole lot. I think a lot of my issues may be 'newbie' issues. There's a lot of engine knock between 1600-2000 RPMS. Normal? Maybe. The heat shield rattle drives me nuts as well. Both are of no major concern, but are bothersome. I'm happy, but keep thinking I should have gone to the 2032R or even a 3033R. I always feel that I should have gotten more for the money. In the end, I must say, it's a wonderful tractor just a bit pricey for what I got IMHO. HP is sufficient if you are reasonable about expectations. Don't think you're getting a commercial performance beast here. It's reasonable for a small land owner/residential use. I do love the thumb on the 270A backhoe. Very useful. I should mention the u-joints grease issue! There isn't a lot of information beyond the forums, like GTT. My 50 hour maintenance is due soon and this U-joint thing has me concerned. Can't see how to get to the fittings, and don't want to mutilate or dismember my machine for a simple routine lube task. Bad on JD for not doing a better job on documenting and giving clear access for this. Maybe, it will turn out to be a non-issue. I'll edit if that is the case. Summary, If you have the cash, just step up to a 2032R or 3033R and don't look back. If 2025R is the cap of your budget, you won't be disappointed. It does deliver, but if you are like me, you'll always want the next size up machine! Hoping to trade up to a 3033R or 39R next summer!
Pros
- 270a bh easy to use
- 54d drive over deck cuts great
- h130 fel easy to remove
- 2025r pleasure to operate
- 25hp is enough to get the job done
- simple to operate
Cons
- mystery u-joint lube issue?
- wish the 54d had swivel wheels for moving
- rattle of heat shield
- pricey w/ attachements
- engine knock normal?
- should come with 1025r seat for $!

seems great but for what I consider to be a couple flaws
For the most part love the tractor and find it to be a good tool. It does however require a bit of crawling around under to attach and detach the mower deck which when your getting a bit older can be a serious challenge let me tell you, if you have nothing on the back like a ballast box or other accessory its a reasonable job but again a bit of a challenge for us older folks. The PTO switch underneath tends to be a bit flaky and just don't see it being protected enough. If you bump anything like a twig or something if your out in the pasture you better plan on having to fix it. Setting those two issues to the side its a great compact tractor and gets the job done.
Pros
- pure power in the toughest of spots
Cons
- poor pto switch shielding
- difficult deck attachment process

Better than the 2210 but
The 2025R is a step up from my 2210 but low range is too slow and high range is too fast for mowing and could use more power. It also has a very annoying rattle from a slotted piece of metal to hold a couple of wires/tubes located just ahead of the fuel pump. John Deere or dealer was no help.

2025R Almost perfect for this segment.
Got mine last year in 2013 and have used for 35 hrs to date. So far it has been above average with 62" mower deck. Could have used just a bit more power but it would also use more fuel so I'm pleased over all. That said I have several steep side hills to mow. This thing is great. Very stable so I don't get upset to throw it sideways on a slope. I do recommend this model to anyone . If you are planning on using as mower the front grill can possibly get clogged with grass clippings and you may need to stop once in a while to brush them off. [If you use bag unit this is not an issue only w/out bag and then only when mowing with deck at the highest setting] This is due to previous dry clippings that are left behind and the fact that I mow grass at the highest possible setting which allows more debris to escape from under the deck. Could be improved maybe , but not a real big deal as I need to stretch my legs every hour or so anyway.
Pros
- great ergonomics
- great quality

2025R
I owned a 2210 s.c.u.t and it was ok but JD really cut alot of corners on that model and did not design the 2210 very well. it was basically a garden tractor with a 540 pto a weak one at that. With all that said i did alot of research on the new R series and i really liked everything i had read and i like the size of the s.c.u.ts but need the durability of a fulll frame compact and the 2025r hit the spot i have owned for 3 months and have done stuff with it that i would have bet lots of money saying it would do it and would be in huge debt! because it did it!!

wow Nice job Deere on the 2025
My 2025 got delieved on 10/04/13 with a loader and 62" mid mount mower and I'm very pleased. I trader a 2305 with a loader and 60" cut. What I great tractor I have owned John Deere tractors for over 25 years and the reason is easy try the 2025 and you will be hooker on. In my option the best compact tractor on the market. The 2025 is more stable on mower my hill then the 2305, guessing the bigger tires, added weight, longer and wider frame makes a big difference, I would have never believed if I hadn’t been the one mowing. The gauges are easier to see and read and the 4 wheel light is grear. No transmission fan to worry about and the higher view from the driver is awesome. The loader works faster and low gear in the 2025 is faster then the low on the 2305, which is what I use for mowing. I have 10 acres to mow and about 2 are on hill. I had no problems with power or traction. In fact the bigger tires seem to have more traction and the ride is a lot softer and so far fuel consumption is measurable better on the 2025. I would recommd 2025 to anyone looking for big tractor performance in a compact one.
