Electric performance without compromise

Z370R Electric ZTrak™ Mower Z370R Electric ZTrak™ Mower
Overview

The Z370R Electric ZTrak Mower delivers the productivity and cut quality of a gas-powered Z300 ZTrak Mower. Many proven components, including the frame and Accel Deep™ Mower Decks, are shared with the gas-powered models.

Accel Deep Mower Decks mow well fast

Mower decks are 4.83 to 4.97-in. (12.3 to 12.6-cm) deep with a flat top and large discharge opening.

Cut and suspended material can exit the mower deck without getting recut:

  • Improves mowing capacity
  • Reduces power consumption to extend run time

Stamped-steel construction eliminates sharp edges and corners:

  • Less material build-up
  • Less turbulence and power consumption
  • Industry leading cut-quality

Adjustable mower wheels, positioned just above ground level give a more even cut and reduce scalping.

Optional MulchControl™ with a 42-in. (107-cm) mower deck enables you to mulch frequently:

  • Deep mower-deck design allows for optimal recutting and even distribution of clippings
  • Converts to side-discharge in seconds if the grass is too tall to mulch

Optional 6.5-bu (230-L) rear bagger with a 42-in. (107-cm) mower deck for collecting grass clippings and leaves.

Mow up to 2 acres on a charge with confidence

Standard 3.56 maximum (3.20 nominal) kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery has up to 40 percent more capacity than competitor’s batteries.

A Z370R with a 42-in (107-cm) mower deck can confidently mow 2 acres on a charge. AZ370R with a 48-in (122-cm) mower deck can confidently mow 1.8 acres on a charge.

The efficient Accel Deep Mower Decks with optimized blades extends runtime:

  • Optimized blades give excellent cut quality, resilience to damage, and long wear life like the blades used on gas-powered Z300 ZTrak Mowers.

Go home mode gets you back:

  • When the battery nears depletion, the mower blades switch off and a battery reserve allows you to drive the mower to a charging outlet
  • Use the battery to depletion without getting stranded
Productivity

The electric transaxle has the same 7-mph (11.3-km/h) maximum forward travel speed as the transaxle used on gas-powered Z300 ZTrak Mowers.

The wider 48-in. 122-cm mower deck is more productive and extends further leftward which improves trimming.

10 Less Decibels IS HALF as Loud.

5/5

This for those who don't understand comparing decibel readings. The decibel scale is logarithmic and not a percentage of. Every 10 decibels is twice as loud.10 to 20 is twice (2X) as loud. 90 to 100 is twice (2X) as loud. 10 to 30 would be 4X as loud. Double(2x) plus double(2x) =4X I read people complaining that this machine is 'only' 10 decibels lower. That means your noise was cut IN HALF. Your old mower was TWICE as loud. Anyone who actually owns a decibel meter would know this. I doubt the review is real. I've seen this exact review on various electric mowers and tools. It's just not true. Your ears will tell you that 90 to 80 can't possibly be a percentage. It's not.

I like the fact I don’t have to get gas and no more oil changes. But I did put a orange flag on the left side so I could see my outside edge, too much green when mowing

Pleased with Our Purchase

5/5

We bought this at the end of the growth season and so it hasn’t yet seen a lot of use as a grass mower. However, I have used it twice for picking up leaves (we have the collection system installed) and for this use it has performed very well. Generally it allows me to complete a task in a couple of hours that used to require a full day or more. With a yard approximating a half acre, the job draws well less than half the battery charge, despite the many stops needed to unload the bins because of the heavy leaf load (we’re surrounded by hardwood forest). A full recharge from near zero has taken about 3 hours. All in all, a very well-designed product and we’re quite happy with our purchase.

Better than gas!

5/5

I have this mower for 2 months - outstanding. I have 2.3 acres of hilly grass to mow and when finished I had 15% left on the battery. The mulch feature effectively deals with long grass leaving no clumps behind. Goes uphill way better than my old X300, extremely efficient and fast.

Sorry John Deere but you asked for my review.

3/5

There are a few ideas that I think would make this mower better. The cover over the back area of the machine could be turned into a small cargo area to carry yard tools etc.. I would also like to see a 12volt outlet and also a 120volt outlet. A way to raise the deck up and down with some sort of a power control rather than foot pedal that looks sort of tacky since the rest of the machine looks so refined. Right from the very start I have not liked the way the steering control levers are so hard to push forward. I considered not keeping the machine for that reason. The seat suspension could also use some improvement. Perhaps better springs that would give it a less ridged ride. Last of all being electric I thought it would be nice and quiet to mow with however I have found that with the mower engaged the sound level is only 10 decibels less than my gas powered Z220 machine.

Great mower!! Wait, where's the mulching option?

4/5

I purchased the Z370R Electric mower mid June and am happy with my purchase - the mower cuts great, no oil or gas fumes or mess, and it is much faster than my previous mower - turtle speed is supposedly the "slow" setting, but even that is faster than my previous gas mower. I deducted one star because 'mulching' does not come standard, and this is not clear when you are placing your order online. For the price of the mower, the mulching option should be a standard feature.

It's Electric

This thing is Awesome. I have in-between 1/3-1/2 acre. I mow 4 times before charge, I mow every week now because I'm able too with speed (healthier lawn). So.... I charge once a month..... Let's go. Hands down blew away my expectations. I was hesitant, but glad I made the JD electric choice!

We love our Z370R Electric ZTrac Mower!

5/5

We have been looking at zero turn mowers for several years but had not decided on buying one yet. Buying and using our Z370R Electric ZTrac Mower has been an amazing experience. It is much quieter than any other riding mowers we have had previously, is comfortable and very easy to use, does not require any other servicing before mowing other than a visual inspection, and mows the grass very smooth, flat, and consistent. We use it to mow a large one acre lawn at our home and the lawn at our commercial property in town.

I think this product satisfies all specifications. I am new to Ztrak control and maintenance. I have always walked behind the mower I have used. The user manual was difficult for me to find answers and instructions. Example: How many checklists are referenced and where are each complete checklist? On line training is also inadequate; however, I suppose correct.

Battery Storage Questions

1/5

I have this on order but am thinking of canceling it, here's why: I'm an electronics engineer who knows a lot about batteries EV's and renewable energy. The batteries in this mower are Li-Ion. JD says storage should be above -20C(-4F) but I live in a cold climate that can see -29C(-20F) which would, according to Deere, create battery problems. It gets worse, new studies show that Li-Ion batteries show degradation at the molecular level below freezing 0C (32F). Ideally owners should remove the battery for the winter. JD what's your answer??

John Deere Quality

5/5

I debated spending the extra money for a full electric model. Extra cost is offset by not ever needing to buy gas. A reasonable extra long warranty on the battery helped seal the deal. It's well built and handles somewhat rough terrain well. Heavy blade motors handles deep weeds. Loads easily onto a trailer without bottoming. Recharge is simple. Run time is longer than most mow jobs. Noise is about the same as a room box fan. I haven't 'babied' it.

4 mows in with 48 inch deck. Verdict... Not impressed for the price. Constantltly seeing missed blades of grass. My only guess is since not belt driven the gap batten blades is too much? Why don't other brands have the issue? Battery not as good as others. Seems JD went with a battery they use in another product instead of designing a better one maybe? It's got the room, why can others offer more battery power with module batteries and you with a single fixed can't? Overall kind of regret the purchase and wish I got the box store sold ones for cheaper given how this is. Paid extra for mulch kit, 48 inch deck, bumper, foot pegs and step. The step was useless and not needed so a waste. Doesn't support having a shade thing of on cause no engine to mount to. So lack of accessories too.

Very Disappointed

2/5

I have owned 4 ICE Z series mowers and have many hours on them. I am so disappointed in this mower. The unit would not track straight and the pressure required to hold the levers in the forward position for extended mowing causes my fingers to fall asleep. The ability to move forward along a fence row is very difficult as the machine is supper touchy and wants to move left or right at any time. I have nicknamed it the zig zag bumper car. I purchased this machine for my wife to use and she is terrified to use it. In addition, I returned it to the dealer who could not make any adjustments and had no service details to be able to correct it. Also, the right lever is one inch further forward than the left lever when moving forward. The dealer could not correct this. After only a few mowings the hitch is falling off the back. The reason I am so disappointed is the mowing and battery life are fantastic. I have mowed tall grass with ease and still had battery life to spare. I will be returning this to John Deere under the John Deere promise. I just can not understand how these issues could be overlooked as I have always been over satisfied by John Deere.

I bought this a month ago, and I love it. Staring is a little difficult to manage. It doesn’t work like gas return. The steering is very tight, but seems to be loosening up some and getting a little bit easier I love how quiet it is and then I don’t have any gasoline to mess with. Battery last really long time. I mowed three-quarter of an acre and charge it once every time.

A Nice Change from a Lawn Tractor.

5/5

I bought this a month ago and it has been a great change. I had a John Deere LX280 that served me well and I traded it in on the Z370R zero turn. I had the mulch control kit installed. This is great as you can go from mulching to side discharge via the flip of a lever. One of the greatest features is how quiet it is. So much easier on the ears. The main noise comes from the spinning blades. And any maintenance just mounts to cleaning the deck, sharpening the blade when needed and checking the air in the tires and maybe an annual cleaning and waxing of the mower itself.

Highly Recommend! Best Mower We've Ever Used

5/5

I've been driving an electric vehicle for years now, so when it came time to replace our old riding mower, I wanted the low-maintenance, convenient, quiet, zippy ride electric drive provides. I researched over a dozen mowers based on battery size, warranty, mowing deck size, and quality of construction. We chose the John Deere Z370R Electric with a 48" mowing deck because of the company's reputation, build quality, and the extended warranty option. I'm so happy we did. The mower has plenty of range to mow our hilly, obstacle-filled 1.5 acre yard (we have almost half a charge left when we are finished). The mower is quiet and quick and definitely reduces the time it takes to mow the lawn. Its so comfortable and fun to use that we used to take turns mowing since it felt like a chore, but now my husband wants to do all the mowing himself. The mower charges on a regular household outlet and I NEVER run out of gas and have to run to the gas station in the middle of mowing. Best of all, we have a 10 year warranty on the battery, so we are confident that we will have the power we need for years to come.

Big Step Up!

5/5

This is my 3rd JD Residential mower and have self-maintained them all (JX85-23 years, Z225-13 years). I continue to be impressed by JD quality, support, reliability, longevity, and value. In May, I upgraded to Z370R Electric and could not be happier. I purchased completely online, leveraged John Deere 0% 12 month financing, and got free setup with free home delivery. The local dealer was great to work with and quick to respond even though I was an online customer. The easy to use features are a big step up from my Z225. The Accel Deep 42" Deck cut and mulch is far superior to my old 42" Edge deck. I've installed the Step, Rear Bumper, MulchControl Kit, and MCS Rear Bagger myself. All were easy to install with clear and complete instructions. I really like the quiet operation as do my neighbors! The Z370R completes my 100% gasoline-free lawn care equipment toolkit. The gas cans are gone! Highly recommended.

Great design, well thought out. Would buy again.

4/5

I have maybe 20 hours on it mowing about 5 acres around my house. I keep the blades in the high RPM mode and can cover a lot of ground quickly and the battery lasts as long as I want to mow at a time which I normally do only a couple of hours a day. I converted one of my Gators to battery and by chance about the same size Lithium battery pack - good choice I would say. I found some wiring rubbing at the right rear which I corrected, there is a lack of availability of a sun shade - so I made one. Otherwise everything is about as good as it gets. I do recommend the mower.

The way of the future for most owners.

4/5

I love the mower and think it is the way of the future for small properties. I was surprised how loud the deck was when on but still better than gas. Also, the controls are very touchy so it takes time to get comfortable with the controls. Last thing, the tires could be better as the traction is not the best when dealing with a small hill or tight turns. The amount of work this mower can do is over rated some. I have just over an acre of yard with a hill sloping up from my road, I can just do the entire yard on one charge. Not sure if it is a operator issue or not as I have only used it 4 times. Would love to see a bigger battery option as I don't feel there is enough "range"

First all electric zero turn!

5/5

I've been mowing with my all electric JD zero turn for about two months. I love it. I only use about half of the battery to mow my 1 acre lot. The mower can still be used to pull my utility trailer around the yard without issue. It's much quieter than my old riding mower, and the direct drive blades produce a great finished product. I think the only thing I would change is how the power button works. You have to hold it down to put the mower into a mode where it will move. If you don't hold it long enough, the mower won't go into drive mode and when you press it again the mower shuts off. This can be frustrating at times.

Nice Mower Overall. Good battery life, easy to operate. Performs well overall but not like a gas engine. There is no noise at all other than the deck and that is very nice. Deck could use an overhaul tho. Doesn’t perform well on a Zero Turn. Works fine going forward but if you make sharp turns or pull back to reverse it will dig in and scalp terribly. I have the 42” Accel and it needs more anti scalp wheels or devices to be put on a Zero Turn.

Wonderful lawnmower by John Deere

5/5

I’ve never had a zero turn lawnmower, let alone electric one, but I’m very pleased with its performance. I’ve cut the grass three times I have .28 acres. I haven’t charged the battery yet. I’m glad I installed the bumper on the back because if you’ve never used a zero turn lawn mower before it takes him getting used to, and by having the bumper installed I probably saved some serious damage on the tractor. I also had the mulching kit installed. What a great feature. I’ll never go back to gas again. No noise until you turn the motors on for the blades I have the 63 inch the noise is minimal to say the least. My previous lawnmower was a GT 225 Sold it to my neighbor, big fan of John Deere.

4/5

It is a recent purchase and we are still in the learning phase with the zero turn features. I have driven another zero turn but this one seems to have more issues with general operations on hills due to more weight in the back and maybe too much air in the tires encouraging it to slide. Overall I am still very happy to be part of the movement to more electric / lower noise level yard tools.

Better than advertised battery range

5/5

The Z370R was delivered in mid-April and thanks to abundant rain, I have been over my 2.75 acres a total of 6 times since then. The performance is excellent and the battery life is well beyond the 1.8 acres advertised for the 48" deck. I had hoped that with the advertised "range", I might be able to mow my relatively open 2.75 acres without recharging. I am happy to report that *is* the case... even when cutting two of the larger sections on a diagonal, which is not the most efficient way to mow.

Great Mower!

5/5

I just picked up my new Z370R with 48 inch deck. I also had the mulch attachment added. I was interested in getting away from gas, belts, and noise that come with a gas powered version. However I did not want to sacrifice power. I am coming from a 48 inch deck so was waiting until John Deere finally came out with the 48 inch version. Initial impressions: I only have mowed once. I was able to mow my 1.5+ acre lot with lots of obstacles to go around in 1hr and 6 minutes and with 35% battery remaining. I mulched the whole time and mower did a great job grinding up the grass clippings. Grass was average length. Only negative (which I have heard others mention as well) is that traction on sloped ground is difficult. It seems particularly difficult in reverse, less so going forward. Controls are very responsive and take a little getting use to as they are more sensitive than standard gas zero turns. Cut quality is great and height adjust is very easy. Ride is pretty smooth for just having springs for shocks. With mulch lever opened for side discharge it did not seem like there was alot of grass being discharged. Most seemed to still be getting mulched. This was a little surprising. WIll have to try this more in the future. Overall very happy so far. Expensive but nice to just plug in and go.

ZTRAK-e Maiden Voyage

5/5

I took my new ZTrak Electric out yesterday for the first time to cut the grass. Although the grass was not very long yet as it has not been too warm, I did have the mulcher turned on. That being said, I was glad to see that I only used up 1/5th (one bar) of the charge to cut the entire lawn as I was expecting more like half the charge. The steering was much more responsive than my last two Deere Z-Turns (one large and one small). I suspect that is due to the fact the mower is lighter. That is not a bad thing, just need to bond more with my new mower to adjust my driving habits. It was also faster on the acceleration without leaving tire tread marks in the lawn. It was very cool to be able to mow the lawn without wearing clunky ear hearing protectors. So far, I like my new ZTrak.

A well engineered machine

5/5

The Z370R mower was delivered in mid October so I only mowed with it 3 times for lawn mowing with the 4th time primarily for leaf management, since I live in a wooded area. My property is 1 acre. These are primarily my initial impressions of the first use of the machine. The grass had grown and was fairly thick (especially in some parts) due to the recent rains. I set the mower deck to the appropriate height and put it to work. Since this was my first attempt at using a Zero Turn Mower I was running at reduced speed in “turtle” mode to take it easy and become familiar with the characteristics of using the machine. Though the grass was thick at no point did I feel the machine was having a tough time with it. The mulch attachment did a great job at grinding up the cut grass. Interestingly one of my neighbors who saw I had a new mower flagged me down to talk. I drove over to him and told him I just got the machine the other day and that it’s electric. He said “I saw you out there mowing but I couldn’t hear you”. I said “Yeah, it’s a lot quieter and cleaner”. So there you go: score one for improvements to the neighborhood environment. By the end of the mowing session I was much more comfortable with steering and navigating. The control arms are very responsive and predictable. The whole machine seems really well designed. In subsequent mowing sessions I was completely comfortable with maneuvering the machine and running it in “rabbit” mode. Before the mower was delivered, I downloaded the Deere MowerPlus app to my iPhone even though I had no idea what it was for or if it would work with the new machine. Well, it does work the new machine and it’s pretty slick. Plus the Bluetooth range is fairly incredible. I had no idea the Z370R had this connectivity. In my initial first time usage, the MowerPlus app reported that my mow time was 1 hr, 15 min (in actuality it’s probably closer to 1 hr, 30 min because I started it about 15 mins late). It reported I covered 1.3 acres and traveled 2.7 miles with an average speed of 1.1 mph. The fact that I was able to mow my property in 1.5 hours all while traveling at reduced speed and learning how to use a Zero Turn mower at the same time is significant. My X300 (which the Z370R replaced) would generally take up to 2.5 hours to do the same job with the same size deck. Plus the lack of a drive belt or deck belts on the Z370R makes this machine simply a breeze to clean out. When I finished with my initial mowing session I was left with 59% of battery capacity which means I could have easily covered the 2 acres John Deere claims the machine is capable of. In closing, I am very happy with the performance and design of the Z370R.

Mows great.

So far, everything I thoight it would be. That's why I waited to buy a John Deere. Would give it five stars if it had better rear tires and a fourth operating mode that gave you high blade speed with low movement. The high speed blade is required for Florida's grass, but the high-speed movement is too erratic to trim up close to anything. Hopefully a fourth mode can be added via software that provides this feature and is indicated by the low and highbspeed indicators on the display. My lcd display is fogging up during mowing. Not sure why yet.

Powerful, quiet

5/5

I only got about 4 mows before the season ended. 5.8 hours on the meter. It only took me 1 lap around the yard to decide I don't miss the sound of a gas engine behind me. Mowing is so much more relaxing and enjoyable. The sound level is the same running with no load or running full speed through tall lush grass. I loaded up with options including boarding step, rear bumper, foot rests and mulch control kit. I also opted for the maximum extended warranty on the machine and battery, which is surprisingly reasonable. I am impressed with the quality construction of the machine and expect it will hold up well. I get an average mowing time of 2 hours from a full charge. Charging time from 0-100% is right around 5 hours.

Great So Far

5/5

Delivered late fall, so haven't used it but a few times, but performance is great! Range is great - probably better than advertised, but hard to quantify. I have about 2 acres to more, and I do it with 0-70% of the battery or so.

Excellent Electric Mower

5/5

Bought this late season , Oct 2023. I got several mows in before winter. I am very impressed and happy to have it! I have 1/2 acre lot and can mow with max energy 3x before recharging. I think its best in class of electric mowers, from the others I checked out and tried.
