Features

Spend more time working and less time switching equipment with easy implement swaps

Drive-over deck makes connection simple Drive-over deck makes connection simple

1 Family Tractors are designed to minimize the time and effort needed to switch-out implements to accommodate different jobs.

  • AutoConnect Deck System: Connect a mid-mount mower deck to the tractor in less than 60 seconds without leaving the seat except to lock the gauge wheels.
    • Load-N-Go attachment: Easily move your 54D or 60D AutoConnect Deck with your John Deere Loader after it has been disconnected from the tractor with the Load-N-Go ramps.
  • Quik-Park™ Loader System: 120R Quik-Park™ Loaders are designed for easy mounting and removal in about a minute, with no tools needed.
  • Quik-Tatch™ front hitch: Save time switching front implements like a snow blower, rotary broom, or front blade without tools.
  • iMatch™ quick-hitch: Easily hookup Category 1 implements in seconds using three fixed points to back in and pick up rear implements without leaving the seat
    • Position control hitch: Set the rear hitch height and then consistently lower the hitch to the exact height every time, which is especially useful in grading and leveling applications.
  • Quik-Knect™ system: Connect power take-off (PTO)-driven implements quickly and with low physical effort. The Quik-Knect system utilizes one connector for the tractor’s PTO shaft and a designated connector for each implement which eliminates twisting and forcing splines to align.

1 Family Tractors can have up to three implements mounted simultaneously due to standard dual selective control valves (SCVs), allowing you to switch from using one implement to another without stopping to adjust. When a third SCV kit is added, the number of possible combinations is greatly increased.

Quickly and easily change speed and directions with Twin Touch foot controls and Hydrostatic transmission (HST)

Twin Touch™ pedals Twin Touch™ pedals

The hydrostatic transmission’s infinite ground speeds and direction of travel are both controlled with the Twin Touch foot pedals.

  • Ideal for loader or mower applications where frequent direction and speed changes are needed
  • No clutching for fast direction changes
  • Match the job at hand with infinite ground speeds

Excellent maneuverability and easy operation with standard four-wheel drive (4WD) and power steering

Standard 4WD and power steering make 1 Family Tractors excellent for mowing Standard 4WD and power steering make 1 Family Tractors excellent for mowing

Both 4WD and power steering are standard equipment on the 1 Family Tractors. This combination allows for excellent maneuverability and ease of operation.

  • Narrow overall width allows you to work in tight areas where most compact tractors just cannot fit. The 144.8-cm (57-in.) wheel base and 119.4 cm (47 in.) overall width gives great stability for all types of terrain.
  • Power steering means fewer turns of the steering wheel than manual steering, which is especially valuable when mowing around obstacles or during front loader work.
  • High horsepower-to-weight ratio makes the 1 Family Tractors a good choice for a variety of tasks. The overall tractor weight reduces ground compaction and makes them excellent for mowing.
  • The fully-independent power take-off (PTO) allows engaging and disengaging of the PTO without stopping tractor movement. This is important when driving across obstacles such as driveways while mowing.

One of the greatest customer concerns involves difficulty in attaching tractor implements. John Deere has addressed this issue with the iMatch Quick-Hitch.

The iMatch Quick-Hitch provides easy hookup and a guaranteed fit for all Category 1 implements that are designed to meet the ASAE Category 1 Standard S278.6 for quick-attach hitches.

  • All implements require a set of bushings in order for the attachment to fit and work properly with the iMatch Quick-Hitch. One set of bushings comes with the iMatch Quick-Hitch.

NOTE: In the picture above, you see the bushing set. These bushings allow the hooks on the iMatch and the pins on the implement to fit together properly. All other implements (box blades, tillers, rear blades, etc.) will require a set of bushings to enlarge the pin to fit with the iMatch hooks. Bushings of different lengths can be found in the parts system or through a bushing supplier (see dimensions below).

  • Upper bushing
    • Inside diameter: 0.76-0.77 in.
    • Outside diameter: 1.24-1.25 in.
  • Lower bushings
    • Inside diameter: 0.88 to 0.89 in.

Versatile & Dependable

5/5

After several years of ownership, and 900 hours of usage, I still give the 1025R a 5 star rating. Attachability, turning radius, power and dependability of a Yanmar diesel, make this subcompact a real workhorse. In addition, the wide footprint offers stability not found on the competition. If you are evaluating tractors give the Deere a try - especially in tight quarters and applications where a tight turning radius is required. You will love the visibility from the operators seat and the fuel economy of this tractor.

It does have great features.

1/5

I changed dealers and wish I hadn't. I had two tractors , an X738 and a 1025r. I liked both tractors. I let the salesman convince that I should make one payment. I thought maybe a 2025r instead. It was too clumsy for my two lots. So I traded it back to a 1025r. It isn't the ractor. It's the dealership I purchased it from in Cameron Wisconsin. I didn't even get a 2nd key with it and the plastic was still on the machine when they delivered it. That's why I gave a 1 star. Tim

Versatile and Easy to Learn

5/5

First tractor and I really enjoy using it. Looking around the property, I decided to take the plunge and do the needed work myself. Between online videos, a little construction experience and the right tools, the 1025R TLB makes it all possible. Removed a failed retaining wall and replaced it. Next will be a shed foundation, a fence and then...

Model # on the belly mower attachment don't work Serial # on the mower don't work. You can't get a web part online. To have service in will cost you labor charges from the time they leave the shop until their return. Very expensive when the nearest service center is 1 hour away. Three years and have had to buy many parts and parts are expensive.

First Sub Compact

4/5

Purchased a 1025r at a local dealership at the end of spring last year, 2022. My garden tractor expired and was left with making the decision to upgrade to maintain 1.5 acres of cleared property. I wanted the flexibility to leverage 3 point rental tools for gardening and snow removal during the winter. I am please so far with the capability of the 1025r this far given that is machine is likely more than I need. Definitely will grow with us as we are looking for more property.

Completely reliable,,, Great little tractor

5/5

Bought this 1025R three years ago, we sold 15 acres and downsized to 2.5 acres. I had a GT275 48 inch cut and a bush hog with tractor at the old place so traded for this one. The loader and mower are both really easy to use, tractor is straight forward, comfortable and hafta say,, thrifty of fuel.. Well worth the money, The only draw back is if you have irregularities (rises or small hills) it will scalp in a heart beat. Over time, I've learned where, but I do wish there were rollers in the center front of the deck instead of a skid plate. But all in all, that is a small worry, we use it all the time and would highly recommend this to anyone with a lot of grass to cut,, Oh, one more thing, I added the mulching kit to it and the pine cones just disappear,, Maintenance is really easy as well. Having started with a John Deere 110 and on through the years, I do have a little experience with them,,

EXCELLENT MACHINE

5/5

We have had our 1025R for 3 years now. It has proven to be the best utility peice of equipment we have purchased. With 60" quick tach mower deck our mowing time is greatly reduced with a great looking lawn. The loader is an added tool with the quick change to forks is awesome. We added the quick couplle hydraulics to change from loader to stump grinder in minimal time. We are extremely pleased with the operation of the 54" snow blower attachment also.

Get one!

5/5

Bought my 1025R, 54 mid-mower, ballast box, rear spreader, loader, 54 front snow blower in May 2022. This is the first sub compact I have owned, and this thing is awesome! I opt'd for the R3 turf tires and wondered if the radials would have torn up my lawn/been better or worse for what I wanted to do... the only thing I'd say is driving in reverse/even in 4x4 is not that great on hills. The rear spreader is a beast/you can control the spread, and I bought a cyclone rake XL to help with the fall clean up (was not impressed with Deere's bagger option). Notes to self... always make sure your pto lifter is in the highest position before you adjust the mower height. Also, if it gets tough with switching the mid, rear, both pto... turn on/off the pto switch, then try again/don't force it. The 54 mower cuts awesome (wish it went a little higher in the highest position tho), but HOLY COW, the turning radius is unbelievable! Get a good grease gun for your attachments, and it is difficult to find the grease points on the actual tractor as the youtube videos out there are older and the manual doesn't give great directions/figures; seem to be only 4? The mid mount auto connect piece was difficult taking it off (had to for the snowblower, and you might want to for more clearance in the woods), but I cannot wait to use the front mounted snowblower with the float function! I added a step on the left side (def get a good torque wrench), 4 LEDs, and a suicide knob... also, ask the dealer to swap your top/rear lights to the inside to avoid smashing them on trees/branches going through the woods. One more thing... take videos of the guy who shows you how disconnect things like the mid mower attachement and snowblower, etc... it will be your reference along with youtube videos (some will not be your exact model). You will not be disappointed with this machine. I'm like a kid in a candy store talking about and using this bad boy!

Best Tractor!

5/5

We have had our 1025r over a year now and it has been an essential part of taking care of our acreage. The 60D drive over mower deck is ingenious and works perfectly, not to mention it chews through everything in our pasture including the brutally strong Colorado ragweed. Great power, excellent turning radius, smooth engine, perfect operating station including very comfortable seating. We are 100% satisfied and very impressed with the capability and power of this tractor. Our property has areas that are very rough and steep so there was a bit of a learning curve in testing the stability. As long as we go slow we have had no issues in the steep areas. That being said this is a very stable tractor with a great COG. I added the "Load and go" system for easier mower servicing, blade sharpening, and pressure washing. If you are considering purchasing this 1025R tractor I can say you will not be disappointed.

Good but not great tractor

4/5

I've put ~50 hours on my new factory ordered 2022 1025R so far, and can only give it between a 3.5 to 4.0 tops rating, depending upon what I am doing. First complaint is the workmanship. It's been sloppy. I have found loose nuts and bolts all over the tractor (like when I added lights to ROPS, I found 6 loose/missing pieces of hardware in wheel wells), as well as have lost it to shop a total of 5 time (totaling about 8 weeks worth) for warranty repair work (e.g. leaking hydraulic valve, maladjusted and missing parts on deck to tractor, rear rock shaft inop, rear 3 point fluttering, etc.). Hydraulics are underpowered. Yes, its a 1 series, but the pump output is under powered at 3.5GPM (the orange competitor does 6 or so in comparison). Even cutting thick heavy grass bogs down the motor, and doing so while climbing a hill almost stalls it out.. I've owned and used the competitors (both yellow and orange) and they have way more problems and typically use cheaper material, and this is my 3rd green machine-but for what I paid-I am a little bit disappointed in the overall lowered performance in terms of HP or hydraulic pressure or stability. And did I mention, its tipsy as all get out.. I run RIMGUARD in both rear tires, use ~550lb rear weight box with loader, and since I have nasty hills, this machine has scared me even at dead slow 90 degree approaches or on minimal angle turns on slops and difficult terrain. I should note I've been running farm and logging equipment for almost 5 decades, so its not like I'm some newbie. I beginning to think I should have gone with the 3 series (the 2 series is essentially the same as the 1).

I bought mine in March and it's everything I was expecting and wonderful to use. It's a well-engineered product, intuitive in most cases. The dislikes are all minor. 4/5

Well made and great running tractor. That being said I'm not happy with the 60D AutoConnect deck mower. The max mowing height is only 3 inches and this is with the unit being adjusted beyond where it should be. Can not br adjusted higher. Not mechanically possible with current setup. My model year is 2021. Other that the finicky hard to set up mower this is a great tractor. Just don't recommend buying this primarily for mowing duty.

I was upgrading from a push mower and looked at some of the riding mowers from Lowe's but decided on getting one from a John Deere dealer instead for better after purchase support. Decided on an X390, then after assessing my needs changed my order to an X590. After reading more and more on the 1 series I knew the 1025R was the one for me. I quickly cancelled my X590 order and the 1025R arrived a month later. After using it for the past 6 weeks I have no regrets despite going way over my originally planned budget. I highly recommend the 1 series for anyone who will do any kind of work on their property themselves.

Great Machine

5/5

After careful research and thought between the 1025r and the Kubota 2680, I purchased my 1025R mid 2021. It was purchased with the front bucket and a 60" driver over deck. It was everything that I expected and more. Very easy to use, lots of attachments available.I purchased the quick attach 54 inch blade and later added the 18 inch extensions.Gussets were added for securing the extensions to the blade, but probably because I am an over thinker with access to metal and a welder. I have nothing but great things to say about my 1025r.

Steep Learning Curve for 1st Time Owner

4/5

I went with the 1025R to maintain a hilly 5 acre parcel of land. About 2.5 acres in lawn that gets mowed weekly, about 2.5 acres of pasture that gets bush hogged monthly. I also use it to maintain a 150 yard long gravel road along with various projects. I regularly use the mid mount 60D mower, the 2048 rotary mower, a box blade, the front loader and a set of pallet forks. I also have a homemade ballast box. I'm a first time tractor owner, so I narrowed my selections to the major brands and dealers in my area: Deere & Kubota. The Kubota treadle peddle drove me nuts. And, I wanted the "easy drive over mower deck". So, it turned out to be Deere. The "easy drive over mower deck" kinda works. I'm glad to have it, but like the entire 1025R there is a steep learning curve for a 1st time owner...don't believe those commercials. Another example of a steep and expensive learning curve is keeping the radiator clean. The 1025R is low to the ground and tends to suck up everything particularly when bush hogging. Buy yourself an air comb and an air compressor to keep the radiator clean both back and front. Or, you'll be buying a new radiator. Wish I would have been told that up front. Deere markets subcompacts to people with a few acres of land, not farmers. But, their dealers cater to the agriculture community. The learning curve is steep for a 1st time tractor owner with a few acres of land. For the most part you're on your own to figure it out...web searches, blog posts, youtube, trial & error. In summary: The 1025R does what I need it to do, but it has been a steep and expensive learning curve.

Powerful little machine

4/5

I’ve put 40 hours on this so far. It’s done a lot of pretty heavy ground work and tree removal on my 10 acre property. It’s biggest weakness is the low weight. It has more power than butt, and will sometimes spin the tires instead of moving dirt. I don’t regret buying it but I think I’d shell out for the 2035r if you need a small tractor but plan to move a lot of soil. Also recommend filling the tires and maybe getting some suitcase weights. It will do anything, it just may not do it as fast as a larger, heavier machine.

Mixed bag…mower is not great

3/5

Overall, I like the versatility of the tractor, but in two years of ownership have had multiple issue with hydraulic leaks. All fixable, but the last time it dumped a large quantity of hydraulic fluid in our shed. The most frustrating issue is the poor quality of the 60” mower. It has proven impossible to get a tall enough cut and cuts unevenly (from right to left), scalping my grass. The dealer seems not to have been able to fix this, so I presume it’s a design/manufacturing issue.

GOOD SMALL TRACTOR

4/5

I have owned my 1025R for two years. Purchased it used from JD Dealer. I own a 12 acre residential parcel. It is great for light jobs around the home. Mower is great but not quite as easy to install and remove as TV advertising indicates. I discovered that the Hydraulic fluid fill was located in a well under the seat. When water got into the well it was drawn into the hydraulic system and really messed the system up. Engineering problem that a 3 inch piece of pipe solved. Still have hydraulic system problems from that experience. Great for gardening, moving dirt, plowing snow with loader and back blade (front end is too light for front mounted angle blade). Overall, great tractor for SMALL jobs.

3/5

I have owned my 1025r over 2 years and have 209 hours on it. Overall, it us a decent tractor. Hydraulics are strong enough to do everything I need. However, you can not do multiple functions with the hydraulics, i.e. lift the bucket and dump at the same time without the functions being very very slow. Same for the backhoe. The slowness can be very cumbersome. The seat is comfortable and functional. I am disappointed with the instrument panel as it doesn't have a fuel indicator light ( only a float indicator on fender), and also no indicator that the machine is in 4wd. Just thought that was a bit cheap considering the price you pay. Turning radius is excellent, and ease of changing implements is excellent. Although I do like the tractor, the cumbersome hydraulics would have been a deal breaker and I would have chosen a different brand.

Second guessing my purchase

2/5

Purchased a 1025r on 4/2/20. On 2/3/21 it went back to the dealer for the third time. Today is 2/17 and it's still there. Second time for the same problem. Can't stop the hydraulic system on the loader from leaking off. According to other reviews, I'm not the only one with this problem. The first time they had it for three weeks. Said the left lift cylinder was bad and replaced it. Well, turns out that wasn't the problem. Patiently waiting to hear what they say this time. The first problem was a oil leak in the rear end. Dealer says a part was installed wrong at the factory. I'm satisfied with the fix,10 months later and still no leaks. I did have another problem that I talked to the dealer about and couldn't get a straight answer from them. I went home and took it apart ( although under warranty ) and fixed it myself. I'll wait until I get it back and see if the problem with the loader is fixed. If not I'll be trading for a different brand. Lost a lot of respect for John Deere.

Questionable durability

2/5

I bought this tractor used with very low hours on it. At 150 hours the engine needed to be replaced. At 350 hours the mower deck/3 point lift control had to be replaced. I like the tractor but am constantly concerned about the product life expectancy. I do think I'll sell and buy a different brand. I've always heard that the green paint is very expensive and I've had two lessons so far.

jOHN dEERE 1025r SUB cOMPACT

5/5

I have owned many small lawn tractors over the years and all John Deere. I was in the market recently shopping for a new 2020 sub compact tractor between Kubota BX series and JD 1025R with a BH / FL / MM, after a long period of time and research comparing product vs price I decided to go with the JD 1025R which was slightly higher than Kubota, but what won me over was all the easy off & on quick disconnect attachments plus. I have to commend John Deere that the 1025R 1st family series so far has exceeded my expectations using the multi attachments from mowing / digging mid size tree stumps / and using the front loader to move mountains of dirt..

My only real gripe is the Neutral Switch underneath gets damage while brush hogging. There is no protection for it. I'm on my third one in two years. I now keep a spare. The saftey bar is high but I deal with it by lowering it to go in a garage.

I have one of these nice tra

5/5

I bought a 2017 1025r a few years ago I use mine with jd loader and 60 D mower deck. And a snow blower on the the 3 point in the winter. Mine has a factory cab nice in the winter it’s hot in the summer if you leave the doors on. I wish they had air conditioning option. It does what ever in need around the acreage. The best part is how easy to change from loader to mower deck. I can do it in about ten minutes if everything goes together like it supposed to. No tools ether and the drive over deck cool idea. The only draw back is the quick tach bucket only fits John Deere. No skid loader buckets or other tools fit with out buying after market quick tach system. Other wise very nice yard tractor.

some good, but poor quality and service

3/5

I was choosing between the 1025R and another brand. I ultimately chose the 1025R because of the availability and ease of attachments. I was especially impressed with the drive over mower deck. Despite the premium price, there have been a number of quality issues with the tractor and my dealer experience has not been stellar either. The tractor just turned two. Here is a list of just some of the issues thus far (not an exhaustive list and doesn't include dealer and attachment issues). 1. Steering wheel tilt did not work and was locked in place. 2. Mower deck height adjustment knob is crooked and does not operate correctly. 3. Block heater installed improperly (more a dealer issue) 4. The easy drive over mower deck.....I'll just leave this one here. 5. The reverse pedal that appears to be sturdy metal literally snapped in two right as I was working to disconnect the 'easy' mower deck. So, my experience over two years of residential use has not matched with the price paid or the reputation marketed. Between this and the dealer service at two different locations I have been disappointed in my ownership experience.

Pros

  • quick hitch is good
  • lots of accessories avialable
  • dealer network is large

Cons

  • quality and attention to detail
  • dealer network can be hard to work with

little Power House

5/5

This little tractor continues to surprise me. After owning John Deeres for the last 40 plus years. This is most likely one of the best that has come along . The agility of this machine is amazing, prior to owning this 1025R I had a X360 to cut grass with.which was pretty nimble a little over powered but a really good machine. The 1025R is just as maneuverable as the smaller machine .The power to weight is much better on the 1025R than the smaller machine. With the loader I have moved a lot of loose material rather quickly given the size bucket .It dose a good job grading.. I just got to use the backhoe to re-landscape our driveway entrance ,again the power of this little machine is impressive, compacted blue stone and bank run gravel dug through it like a full size backhoe . When operating this machine I find the controls are exactly where you would expect, all with in easy reach from the driver seat . The loader is very easy to install and uninstall. I just wish all of them were this easy 30 years ago. The backhoe is a breeze to uninstall .I found that installing it to be a little cumbersome It may just take a little more time to get the hang of it. Cutting the 2 acres of grass Is no longer so time consuming set the RPM,s at 2400 and go it that easy. Cutting around tree it gets close to the mulch with very little weed whacking required. I am still playing with the speed /RPM to find the best cut for my yard it just take a few more cut and it should be dialed in. Overall I think John Deere has done a really good job with this tractor with all the attachment that are available I see my self going back and buying other attachments. The only item that give me some concern is the light mounted on the ROPS .I have already hit them once on a tree limb.Went straight to the dealer and bought the guards for the lights seem to help. maybe some kind of redesign on the next model.

Best of the BEST

5/5

I have owned a Kubota BX in the past and although a great tractor, the John Deere 1025 R is leagues ahead of its orange brethren. I have had the 1025 R for almost 2 years and could not be happier. The tractor is used to maintain the 4 acre property in New Hampshire. It is a workhorse, mowing, plowing, dislodging tree stumps and various landscaping projects. The engine, is immensely powerful, yet insanely efficient, sipping fuel. The seating, quick disconnect systems for the mower and other attachments are a dream. Best Feature? We often get heavy wet snow being on the coast of New Hampshire. Everyone struggles even wit the biggest of snow blowers, but the 1025R never misses a beat. It throws heavy wet snow around like it is fluff. Never slips, and tons of reserve power. Truly the best tractor one can but for the money! And its American! (Mostly minus the Yanmar Diesel)

A Younger "me"

5/5

I purchased my JD sub-compact 1 1/2 years ago for a large drainage project on my property. This machine is awesome. The backhoe attachment is great and simple to use and made quick work of a job that wouldn't have gotten done properly otherwise. The bucket was perfect for hauling the stone. It's like having a younger version of myself available to help me whenever I need it, and I don't have to bribe it to get it to work! I've used it to clear snow from the driveway, dig foundations for concrete work, haul firewood and countless other jobs that used to be difficult. I also plan to dig a new leech field for our septic system next year. I've never regretted this purchase for a moment.

I was looking for a sub compactor tractor .10 days of going to all the dealers in my area the John Deere meets all that I’m looking for in a sub compactor tractor. A real review

4/5

This is a great all around Sub Compact. I have a 2018, loader, backhoe, box blade and 60 inch MMM. I am very pleased so far with it but be prepared before you buy one, you need to know a few things. 1. All tractors eventually have small issues. Remember this is not a car. You are buying this to flat out beat on it so you can save your back. I suppose if you baby it, wash it daily, buff it, then maybe just maybe it will never have an issue. What I mean by issues is do not get prissy if a bolt comes loose here or there or if a snap ring comes loose. It is a tractor, it vibrates, they all do no matter what color! 2. This is a subcompact. With that in mind please remember it is not a skid steer and never will be one! Do not expect to go out and lift more than it specs. Also for those that complain about it being under-powered should have considered a larger machine! 3. Yes it has a lot of plastic, plastic that holds ups very well, that does not dent like steel, does not scratch easy, and does not rust! 4. If you are buying this just as a mower, do not waste your time and go get a zero turn. No one in their right mind buys a 1025R just to mow. Now if you have other purposes such as the need for a loader or 3-point attachment than go ahead. And do not listen to the other reviews, IF IT LEAVES LINES OR CUTS WEIRD THEN IT IS JUST OUT OF ADJUSTMENT!!! 5. Backhoe digs very well but you will not set any records with it. 6. 3 point has an adjustable height setting and lock, no others in this size do! 6. Lights are not dim as others state, I cut my grass in the dead of night and have no issues at all! All in all this is a good machine! I shopped it to all the other brands and it came ahead. However, remember that your machine is only as good as the dealer! If your dealer is poor, do not blame the Deere. Make sure you have a good dealer first, no matter what brand you buy!

Pros

  • runs well
  • turns sharp
  • comfortable
  • fun to drive
  • auto connect works well
  • loader/backhoe very easy to remove and attach
  • 150 hours with very minimum issues

Cons

  • drinks diesel like a drunken sailor
  • led lights would be better for less heat
  • neighbors expect you to do free work
  • green attachments a bit pricey

Tractor hydraulics are severely under powered. Only a 681 lb 3 point is very limiting. Speed such slower than my older 2320. I do not buy into all the plastic hype. Headlights are dim. Not enough standard options for the money paid. The engine runs incredibly rough in summer, I cannot even imagine what winter starting will bring.

more than just a lawn mower

5/5

Being a woman in my 60's I needed a small tractor that I could get up and down on but could handle the job at hand. It handles a single bottom plow with ease, tiller and scrape blade so far w/o any problems and believe you me I dug down deep with that bottom plow! I was use to an 8N and this little tractor reminds me of it. Fits in tight places and the backhoe! Oh that is worth so much!!! I have planted and moved more trees and shrubs and wonder how did I ever live without this thing! It was a real task to learn how to take it off and on but now, no problem. I can't wait to buy a cultivator/planter for it! I love this little tractor and it's perfect for me. It does everything I need it to do and hasn't failed me yet. Oh and the frontend loader is awesome! It's just right for my little hobby farm! I wish I had not waited so long to buy it! Love my 1025R.

Great Little Tractor

5/5

We purchased our 1025 a couple of years or so ago. It is really a well built machine. We live on 5 acres out in the country. If your needing something to remove stumps from the ground; this little tractor just won't do it. If your looking for something to mow with, haul dirt, gravel, or to smooth out your driveway; this little guy is awesome. You just need to know up front what it capabilities are so that you don't exceed them or your expectations are ruined. John Deere makes a great product. I have used mine for all kinds of things. We have knocked down brush and removed it with this. We have cleaned off land with this. If you talk with me, I'll tell you I think we made a wise investment. It's almost paid for now and we love it. My son usually names all our equipment, cars and such. I guess if he were to name this one he would probably be calling it Hulk Jr.

Best sub-compact in the market

5/5

When I was shopping for a sub-compact tractor I gave all brands in the area a chance to show me what they got to offer and tested their machines. New Holland, Massey Ferguson, John Deere, Kubota and Mahindra were the brand's I tested on all their sub-compacts, they were all great machines but John Deere was the only one that stood out from the rest in terms of Performance, Durability and Functionality. I bought a new 2019 1025R from premier equipment ospringe location in Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. Their salesperson "Joe" was the person who helped me with my purchase, I went in to look at x500 and x700 series models and ended up with a 1025R with 60" deck and 54" blower because I was blown away on the outstanding customer service that was delivered during my 1 month shopping for a Tractor, Joe answered all my questions and was very knowledgeable on the products. I was never rushed to buy anything and was always available to make time to show me products while I was shopping around. I spoke with their mechanics and asked questions and they were prompt answering and also with a lot of knowledge with their products. So far my 1025R has been working incredible, attachments easy to install and already looking forward to winter to test out my snow blower, I made the right choice picking John Deere, my machine gets a lot of attention from farmers in my area and couldn't be any happier and look forward on purchasing more equipment in the near future.

5/5

I recently purchased this tractor with the backhoe attachment. I love the way it handles and its smooth operation. The controls were easy to learn and I tend to look for projects so I can get on the machine. There is only one thing I do not like and that is the fact that the tractor only comes with one key. After paying more than $20K for this machine, I tried to get a second key but they had to first order one for me and then I had to pay for it. At only $6 it was not a big deal but that is exactly my point. Why not provide 2 keys to start with and I could have saved myself another trip to the store. That is just cheap business practice.

Great Little Tractor

5/5

I have had my 1025 for several years and have several hundred hours on it. It has not had any issues. I have the quick release loader, backhoe, 4' box blade, 50" finish mower, 4' rotary cutter/shredder, 4' tiller, imatch quick hitch and pallet forks for the front. I have worked it hard on my hunting property in the country. My main use is on my 3 acres in town. I bought this because of the small size and getting into tight areas and my small barn doors. This thing has been a real back saver for me around the house. The pallet forks have been the most useful implement I own. I use them all the time for work around the yard and pasture at home. The forks will even pick up and carry my round hay baIes (although they are much heavier than what I should be doing with this tractor). It will also pick up my 4-wheelers for loading on trailers. I use counter weight for sure when using the loader or forks. I have 3 larger tractors on our country property, but prefer using this one for many tasks. The seat is much more comfortable (I did as stiffer springs) and it is so easy to get on and off. When it is cold out, I start it and the engine runs rough for just a short time then smooths right out. Not a problem. This is my favorite tractor even though it is small. I am amazed all the work I can do with it. It is also fun to find stuff to do with it!

Pros

  • small size
  • tight turning radius
  • very reliable
  • strong for it's size
  • very adaptable

Cons

  • feels unstable on side slope
  • seat springs too light
  • driveover mowing deck difficult to set up 1st time

Versatile and very easy to use.

5/5

Purchased my 2017 model in January of 2019 - it was a dealer floor display model and so had been stored inside, was in new condition. This has been not only a very versatile and easy to use piece of machinery but also a FUN little tractor that surprises me every day with it's power-to-size ratio. Having grown up on the farm with a several large and medium sized tractors I first started looking at the 1 series as more of a large lawn & garden tractor for my acreage in Kansas. This has turned into quite a workhorse that has made the job of brush clearing, brush hogging, tilling, firewood hauling and both lite and heavy landscaping much easier than expected. I retired from a career that physically beat me up and so the idea of doing all of these many projects around my property was a bit daunting and I was concerned I might have to hire out more than a little bit of the work. With my front end loader, some suitcase weights on an easy hitch on the back, some heavy duty tow straps & chains and a full tank of diesel I have been able to remove many invasive trees from around my pond, move large decorative rocks around the property and put a really nice amount of river rock around the foundation of my weekend cabin - none of which would have been possible without my 1025r. I opted to get a 3-point rotary mower instead of the belly mower offered and, for me at least, this has worked out great as I don't need a finished lawn look and the rotary mower (brush hog) cuts short and does a nice job. This tractor is very easy to use and just the right size for most homeowners who have more land than is manageable for a lawn mower and who may have always wanted something with the capability to move gravel, till, mow heavier grass and brush, dig post holes or for tree planting and well...just all sorts of projects that you didn't imagine.

Pros

  • versatility
  • quality of build
  • price
  • dealership support
  • excellent warranty
  • fits in a standard sized garage

Cons

  • price of optional implements

An Okay Tractor but has issues starting in cold weather

2/5

Tractor seems fine but has issues if you live in colder climate. At even -1 Celsius it struggles, hat to think what it will be like when it gets real cold. If you purchase the brush cutter be aware on less its flat ground it does not have what it takes to lift the brush cutter of the country when on slight hills. Consider a larger tractor if on any type of even small hills.

If I'm using a rear attachment ant had to turn around and look back, I have often times hit the key with my right knee and turned the tractor off. Likewise, I've hit the light switch with my left knee and have turned the lights on. For the small stature of this tractor, it really works its tail off. I have done a ton of work with this little guy, and it doesn't tear up my yard like a larger tractor would. My wife uses the belly mower all summer long to cut the grass. She loves mowing now after complaining about doing it before we got the 1025. I've had a front seal leak, which I've seen is pretty common. I always make sure it has fluid in it, so I am not planning on replacing the seal. The yellow seat turned black within six months of purchase no matter how much I cleaned it or protected it from the elements. I have a pull type bush hog, 6 foot wide and this tractor handles it very well. This was my first new tractor purchase ever. I have no regrets.

Love the cab and snowblower for this machine works excellent

1/5

I am very happy with the machine itself. Very poor design of the window and bucket indicator. Opened window while using bucket which hit windshield and blew windshield out. No warning sticker! No letter from JD telling me that! Only a bill for a new one $$$ Major design flaw that JOHN DEERE SHOULD BE GOING GOOD FOR, Their fault totally.

Pros

  • great overal machine
  • snowblower works well
  • cab is the best warm and comfy

Cons

  • poor bucket indacator design

Little John needs a big brother

4/5

I have owned the 1025R for 3 years with 290 hours of use. Equipped with a front end loader (a must have) a 60 in belly mower and box blade. Have had a couple maintenance issues like leaking fuel line and neutral sensor problem which kept me from starting it. Mow quality is fair on flat ground and so so on a slope. It is a lot faster/more powerful than my JD X380. I live on 5 acres in south Alabama with LOTS of trees and vines with which to deal. Little John does pretty well, but I am going to upgrade to a 2032R for more weight/width/ capacity. Will feel much more secure on a bigger, wider tractor. Still have lots of trees with which to deal from Michael. Have a level lot? 1025 is a fine little tractor.

Pros

  • reliable mostly
  • good power
  • plenty of operator room

Cons

  • light and narrow
  • belly mower uneven

Excellent subcompact tractor

5/5

Took delivery a few weeks ago. This SCUT is a work horse, love the four wheel drive and Yanmar Diesel engine which sips fuel. Got the imatch implement quick attach system, perfect. Also added the MCS20 or material collection system- I highly reccomend this if you want a top shelf bagging system for leaves and grass clipppings. The front end loader or FEL is powerful for such a small tractor. No tiller needed with an FEL and the Piranah tooth bar which I added after purchase. I went with the 54” deck which cuts my centipede grass nicely. You can also add a backhoe later on which is a nice option. You won’t regret this purchase.

Pros

  • a super user friendly tractor!

Cons

  • none that i can think of right now.

1025R

4/5

I just purchased this new 1025R tractor with backhoe, loader bucket, and drive on mower. I love the ease of removing backhoe and loader. It is much easier than the old Kubota that I had. Have yet to remove the mover, but I am looking forward to do this when required. Tractor preforms out do the old one I had so far. It is also a bit larger than the Kubota. The only drawback is getting used to the operating requirements, but that will come in time.

mower deck

5/5

I have owned a 1025 R for 4 years now. It has a 54" quick attach deck on it. No matter what I do to the deck it will not mow without leaving an uncut strip of grass. I have done everything the manual, the JD shop people tell me to do but NOTHING will work. It leaves a strip on both sides of the mower deck no matter how high or low I cut. I have talked to two other people that have the same problem with their decks. Other than this it is the best JD product I have ever owned from a 2355 tractor to a 7810 tractor. This may seem like an easy problem to fix but there are three of us with the same issue. Any suggestions?

Does everything well

5/5

I bought TLB, Love it!! I added 9 iron finish mow deck, 48" Shredder and 48" Box blade. I have 5 acers, 1/2 mile dirt drive way. This unit works great, easy to use. I love the hydro trans and driver over finish mow deck. Very fast to swap out attachments. I'm very surprised the power this unit had for its size. This is a unit you will keep for years. Having this 1025r for over a year and 300 hours on it, I have to say, my John Deere starts and runs like new, Does not leak a drop, I do take good care of but I do keep out side all the time. All I do is keep oil changed (with maintenance agreement) and keep sprayed off. Very good unit, Bach hoe attachment more useful than I though I would ever use.

Pros

  • well built
  • starts every time
  • great fuel efficency

Great little tractor

5/5

I purchased my 1025R December 2017 and have 77 hours on it already. I use it for my own property (3 acres) and it has made the impossible - possible. From grading soil, removing tree stumps, and hauling brush and debris, this tractor has not let me down in any way. Considering it is a small tractor, it has more than enough power to get just about any job done. It can get into tight areas where a larger machine wouldn't be able to. The backhoe has plenty of power, the loader seems to lift whatever I put in it without any trouble. I purchased my tractor in lieu of renting one. This tractor will pretty much pay for itself the first year.

Great Tractor - It will continually amaze you what it can do

5/5

My 1025R is an amazing tractor. I absolutely love it. I got the 60" auto connect deck, 260B back hoe with thumb and the 120R loader. Everything has worked very well and has that feel of quality. I was worried this tractor was going to be too small. However after operating it I am shocked how capable it really is. I would buy this tractor again without thinking twice. I looked at all the other tractors out there, they are not as well rounded of a machine as this. When you buy a Deere you expect quality, a well engineered machine, easy to use attachments and a machine that just operates well. John Deere delivered and then some. Totally satisfied.

John Deere compact 1025R , carryover- NEW model year 2016

2/5

I bought this Compact 1025R not because it was cheap >$20k! It was because it was advertised as being very diversified with an auto detached mowing deck , quick attach loader, box blade and snow blower accessories. After operating this tractor for a period of time I found that all of these features advertised with Auto disconnects require near perfect conditions for them to all attach / detach without extra efforts or adjustments. After owning my tractor for one month I decided to detach the mowing deck, when reattaching the mower deck it would not reconnect. I found that the drive shaft assembly linkages we're done in correctly at the John Deere dealership and the service techs did not pay attention to details when installing this assembly so the tractor had to go back to the shop for two days for that correction. Then on month number four I noticed anti-freeze on the floor in my shop. Upon further inspection I found the water pump front shaft seal was leaking! The tractor only has 47 hours on it. Next, I'm finding when the weather is below zero this unit gels up very easily… I've owned diesel tractors before and I have never had gelling issues as this unit seems to have a lot of idiosyncrasies.. I am now waiting for the John Deere dealership shop to pick it up again to put in a new water pump! At this time I'm not too impressed with the level of quality and workmanship coming from John Deere. In closing, this tractor is very expensive and it should not be breaking down with less than 50hrs on it! I hope John Deere improves its workmanship and pays more attention to quality and to all the necessary details in the future construction of these compact tractors as this unit is very frustrating to deal with being brand new. Thanks

Great value and versatility

5/5

I recently purchased a 1025R and have to say I'm very impressed with what it can do. I have about three acres with much of it wooded and wanted a tractor to move dirt, clean up fallen trees, etc.. I've had it a week and already have more than 10 hours on it, and it's the middle of December. I'm not a contractor - this purchase was entirely for working my own property. Considering this is a relatively small tractor, the amount of power and versatility it delivers is amazing. I would have to say it's more than what I expected, and I'm more than pleased with the value.

Love my tractor size

5/5

love my tractor size and all that I have done with it I got the 1025r filb didn't know how much you could do with it my brother-in-law has a much bigger John Deere but still calls me to do the jobs he can't get his larger tractor into and the Backhoe is great for ditches and hole digging wish I had a ripper tooth and bucket thumb will get it down the road has enough power for what I do with it I have seizures so I wanted the seat safety switch which it has so if I try to leave the seat the tractor shuts down and the hydrostats that drive the machine if I take my foot off of the pedal it comes to a stop even on a hill so the 1025r filb fits me just fine it's a little work horse the only problem I had with it is the stabilizer would leak off if the tractor was running or not so when I done the first year service the guys at John Deere shop got it replaced for me and it was under warranty work at no cost to me and that fixed the problem the guys at my local John Deere dealer want me to be happy with my purchase so they go above and beyond to make that happen I think I will get many years out of my machine and it makes my life so much easier to complete my jobs will recommend this to all of my friends

1025r Great Potential Poor Execution

2/5

So I will begin with that i started out with a x738. It was a great machine until the engine block was cracked at 365 hrs., and that was that. So my dealer said that the 1025r was a better more durable machine so I bought it and within the first 15hrs of use the machine had a coolant leak. So brought it back and the dealer fixed the hose fitting, because it was cracked. The next problem happened at 20 hours when I was mowing and the PTO shaft for the mower deck sheared at the u-joint. Note I was on level ground and it was brand new. Took it back to the dealer, and they fixed it in about 4 days. The next break down happened when the tractor wouldn't start. Turns out the power source to the starter wasn't connected very well and needed a new harness. At this point I was mad at the quality of the machine I spent over $27,000 on this machine and it keeps on breaking down while under warranty. The dealership is fixing it every time and thats fine. But if the machine breaks down again I might pull the plug, and trade to a 2038 or try and get a new one because this one isn't working out again. Rant Over Other wise its a great machine and the dealership is great with helping out

I won't be able to get away from this machine quick enough. Complete buyers remorse.

1/5

I bought the 1025R in April of 2015 and had nothing but trouble with the thing since. Got the machine home from the dealer and immediately, the mower deck would not connect properly. Dealer came out and took it to the shop for repairs. Got the machine back and again, something else went wrong. The dealership had the machine for over a month. We made our first payment and the machine was still in the shop. When we did get the machine back, it was a royal pain to get the deck to marry up with the mower. We finally did and I won't remove the mower deck again. I had the machine out yesterday, and the bracket that holds the seat in place broke. I'm not a very big guy by the way. It's been one headache after another with this machine. I wish I had never laid eyes on this thing. Do yourself a favor, don't even entertain the idea of buying a piece of trash like the 1025R. John Deere needs to recall this model.

Very good entry level tractor

5/5

This is my second JD tractor over the past 15 years. The 2210 was my 1st and ran flawlessly for 12 years and I got a good trade in price for it. My 1025r has loader, mower and backhoe. Runs very well after 3 years of regular use. The loader and backhoe are very well made, easy to remove and install. Not a fan of where the light switch is located, I hit my knee on it all the time. A bit to much plastic instead of steel but by trucks like that now too. For the money you can't go wrong getting a 1025. It's a very good compact tractor. John Deere resale value beats everyone else if you look after it.

Our 1025R is a great work horse with plenty of power

5/5

We bought our 1025r to mow the 4 acres of rough grass which it handles with ease. We used the front loader to plow, push and lift lot's of snow this past winter and she never hesitated lifting or pushing even up a 3 degree grade. The back hoe may be small but it works just like the big ones and is very good at digging up tree roots and digging holes. Frankly, 90% of the use on our 1025r has been removing tree roots, and clearing out saplings and small trees up to 6" diameters. We've leveled and graded our grounds and moved 15 tons of decorative marble stone chips without any issues. Bottom line, we love our John Deere 1025r

Versatility through attachability!

5/5

Need a small tractor for a lot of different jobs? If so the JD 1025R was made to order! Mowing, digging, lifting this tractor does it all. If attachability is key to your purchase decision you'll love this machine. I now have 135 hours on my 1025R and cannot say enough good about this tractor. I mow, landscape, handle material, plow and more and this machine gets her done. In addition, to have a Yanmar diesel is to love one. You"ll be hard-pressed to find anything more fuel efficient. Just compare the ease and convenience of implement attachment to others and you'll fall in love.

Mower connection is difficlut

4/5

I have owned this tractor for 2.5 years now. Overall I love the tractor. However, the E_Z connect drive over mower is very difficult to accomplish. Trying to get everything to line up by yourself is impossible. The locking rod that holds the mower to the unit on the backside is extremely difficult to lock in place. The loader hooks up easily and so does the snow blower.

One awesome tractor

Now two weeks post adoption of my newest green family member! Solidly built, such thorough safety features I am comfortable starting training (with supervision!) of my two daughters. One tip: if you order with forward field lights (mounted to the hazard light guards) ALSO order rear field lights at same! Due to the requisite mounting point (due to folding ROPS) I find the light in my face if working at night when I turn to back up- and all behind becomes invisible! Be safe and light yourself all the way around... Looking forward to many green years ahead!

A workhorse

5/5

I bought my 1025R in March of 2016 with a H120 loader, a 5' rear blade, and have since added the quick change pallet forks (not the clamp on type). I have only .75 acre but care for my home myself. Having had 2 back operations and 2 titanium slugs placed on the upper and lower spine, I needed to avoid lifting, stooping down, twisting, and generally stressing the back which is the sole purpose for buying the machine. I have 34 hours on the machine now without a single problem. Trimming shrubbery standing up and placing them in the loader bucket or on the pallet forks at waste height is a blessing. I used it to dig irrigation pipe ditch and cover it back up. I carry trimmings to a yard waste and simply raise the bucket and dump it. No bins, no cutting to length, no raking, no shoveling. My back loves it. Lifted and installed a gun safe with no problem. Carried concrete pavers, loaded and unloaded pine bark mulch. Great machine. I should have gone one size bigger but the 1025R is a great machine.

Very Pleased So Far!

5/5

I did a lot of research comparing the 1025R to the competition before I made my purchase, and I am so glad I went with John Deere! I have now owned my 1025R for about 3 months and it has lived up to and exceeded my expectations. I bought the loader and 54 inch mower deck and have been very please with how both of them have performed. We have a small farm and raise chickens and turkeys and raise vegetables for the farmers market and this tractor has cut my work time in half! I had debated on getting a larger tractor and a zero turn mower separately, but I am very glad I decided to go with this set up. This tractor has a very tight turn radius in 2WD and is great for mowing even in tight spots, which I was worried about. The drive over mower does a great job cutting our 3 acres of grass, and has cut my mowing time in half of what my old Craftsman mower could do it in. The loader makes cleaning the chicken house a much easier chore, especially because I was using a shovel and wheelbarrow before. The loader has more power and lifting capacity than what I expected from a tractor this size. I have had zero issues so far, but have only had it for 3 months and only put 30 hours on it, so I will have to see on the quality. I plan on following all the recommended maintenance, and keep it as clean as possible, so i don't foresee and issues. One thing I would suggest to any potential buyers would be to shop around at different Deere dealers if possible. There are two different ones in my area, and the one I bought from quoted me $1700 cheaper than the other dealer with all the same equipment and set up.

Pros

  • strong for its size!

5/5

I have owned my 1025R since early 2014 and have had no issues with it at all. It always surprises me at it's abilities and how much work it can do in a day. I have the H120 loader with a 5' bucket and pallet forks, post hole auger, 5' rotovator, 5' snowblower 4' rotary mower and a 6' rear mount finishing mower. It handles all of my implements extremely well and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I have logged over 200 hours on the meter so far with no issues at all other than regular maintenance.

Pros

  • lots of power
  • h120 loader has good lift capacity
  • easy to maintain
  • comfortable

Cons

  • light springs on the seat.

Good Power

5/5

I have owned the 1025R for one month, and already used it to move and level 18 yards of dirt, as well as mow my yard. This tractor has plenty of power. After removing about half of the dirt, I decided to see if it would push the rest of the pile. With the tractor in 4WD and low range, I raised the RPMs all the way and locked the rear differential. The tractor pushed the pile around with authority. Definitely a good setup by JD.

Great tractor.

5/5

I put a lot of thought and research into John Deere tractors. People said,"Oh don't get a small tractor. You won't be satisfied. WRONG! 1025R does it all. Love the loader. Mulch, stone, dirt, debris. I have a rake and a scraper blade. I have a set of pallet forks. Not the clamp on type, the ones where you remove the bucket. Couldn't live without them. Lastly, have a four foot bush hog. Does a great job. Really gets in tight spots. Also, have done 3 bush hog jobs. 2 of them needed 4wd from the start to get through low, wet areas. This tractor is great in my yard and doing work for others, doesn't tear up grass or make tracks. Want to get more attachments soon. Love the 1025r.

  • perfect for tight areas.

Hydraulic hose and snap ring in two months.

4/5

I purchased two months ago and have put over 45 hours on this tractor, I have the back hoe and the H120 loader. This is a very strong machine and I have been impressed. Its very easy to use. My concern is that the quality is not the same as my 30 year old 325 lawn mower which is tough as nails. Up on delivery the tractor had a leaking hydraulic hose that had to be replaced, I was using my new tiller, well my wife was using my new tiller and the snap ring that keeps the spline shaft on for the draft arms broke ( and that was a tough self fix ) and now the attachment lift and lower arm wont stay up....... Will this tractor make it 30 years?

Poor engine choice

2/5

I have owned this tractor now for 1.5 years and while it has done everything I have asked of it and can't complain of the actual build quality of the tractor itself, the yanmar diesel is not up to the standards of the rest of the tractor. First off this engine spits and sputters terribly when u first crank up from a cold start bellowing white smoke like crazy for about 30 seconds then the engine smoothes out and runs fine. Second thing is at 55 hours the engine starts choking down with rpm's in the 2700 -3000 range while pulling a load such as a 4ft disc or small middle buster plow. Dealer where I bought it has had tractor over 3 weeks and evidentially cannot fix it because every time I call to check the service mgr States he's not real sure what the tech. Has found wrong with it. This my first and last Deere product, buyers regret. Should have bought a tried and true orange tractor like several friends recommended! Seems like i was sold on marketing hype rather than quality as almost every part on this tractor is foreign made. Hope this helps.

Pros

  • could be a nice tractor

Cons

  • wish i had bought something else
  • very poor engine and poor service at purchasing de
  • never again!

John Deere 1025R FILB

5/5

I looked at the competitions sub compact tractor offerings before I decided on buying the John Deere . Any of them will most likely be able to do the work you have in mind. Some are boasting running at low Rpm's or doing this or that better. Here is what I have learned after sitting on the competition machines. Hands down the John Deere has controls that are easier to use. Everything from the 4x4 shifter to the loader control is within easy reach. Having been able to operate the competitions machines in real world work conditions the John Deere offers better comfort, less complex control's and is a easy machine to operate. It will do the job just as easy as a bigger machine just takes a few extra buckets.

Pros

  • all controls are within easy reach
  • engine runs excellent at 2200 rpm . plenty of powe
  • easy to service!

Cons

  • reversing the seat takes a little practice
  • rops could be just a little wider
  • rops lights should be standard!

she thinks my tractor's sexy

5/5

Purchased this for 5 acres of mowing and has done a great job, only complaint is where the rear lights are mounted. Mowing along a hedgerow the lights sometimes get hung up on a branch or shrubs and has broken away from ROV bar. Have them wired tied now to bar. Bucket has been an awesome attachment for moving stone, mulch and even snow. Have a blade that attaches to rear (given to me by my brother) that I also use for plowing snow. All in all, I Love my John Deere 1025R. Before I purchased it my brother said," a tractor payment is better then a car payment." I agree.

Love my tractor!

5/5

I have had my John Deere 1025r tractor over 2 years with a 110 hrs of use and can say I am very happy with this machine. Its very simple to operate and cutting the grass up tight around trees is easy due to a very tight turning radius and precise hydro-static foot controls even with a 60" deck. I mostly use it for cutting grass but the tractors real power become apparent when you use the front loader. I have wooded area in my yard with a lot of brush and wild grape vines. Using the front loader its incredibly easy push all the brush and small trees out of the way without any manual labor. Its a lot of fun to use. Drive over deck auto connect and drive up loader attachment are easy to use and time savers. I love my John Deere.

Pros

  • powerful
  • tight turning radius
  • precise hydro-static foot controls
  • low fuel consumption
  • drive over mower deck

Cons

  • mower height adjustment label lacks numbers
  • occasional spongy bucket controls

Very good, thought out designed tractor.

5/5

I picked up my 1025r on October 27th 2015 and have put on twenty two hours so far. It's been a great tractor on my 4.6 acres of land. I was able to get the Frontier York rake with the 0% down promotion for free. I have the H120 loader as well. I was able to find the rest of my attachments (60" finish mower, 60" three point blade, and a set of quick attach forks) for under $1000.00. Why buy new implements when you can find good used stuff for a lot less and save money. These implements make this great Deere tractor more versatile. The tractor is good on fuel, and very comfortable. I'm 6'2" and can ride hours in great comfort. It's easy to run, and simple to service. Only trouble I had was a small hydraulic leak on one of the female couplings from the tractor to the loader(dealer fixed right off) and a very small coolant leak which I fixed my self by tighning a clamp. I highly recommend this tractor over any other brand and I did my research.

Avery useful little powerhouse.

5/5

I have had this machine since July 2015 & have about 25 hours on it. In addition to the FILB I have a 47" front Snow Blower & a Box Ballast on the back. I also have the 54" drive over belly mower. Although it does take some practice the implements are very easy to change out. The caveats are to always change & store implements on firm level surface & to relieve hydraulic pressure on the lines before removing the lines: very important! That having been said everything about this machine is as advertised. It is a real powerhouse! Wish I got it at least a year sooner! I have moved tons of gravel & dirt. I have dug numerous holes of varying depth & width & I had a brief chance at snow blowing. A great little machine.

A great small tractor

5/5

I have about 70 hours on my 1025R. I initially bought it with the H120 loader and a Frontier rotary mower, and a rear ballast bucket for use with the loader outside of mowing season. As a first-time tractor owner, I found the 1025R was very easy to learn and use. It has plenty of power to dig and move dirt, and mowing 7-10 acres of prairie grass and brush was very easy and not too uncomfortable (aside from bumpy ground and dust, which has nothing to do with the tractor). After using it for a year, I got the I-Match quick connect hitch, and a hydraulic snow plow blade for the front. For my needs, this tractor and the implements mentioned cover everything very nicely. I have had absolutely no problems with the equipment. With the I-Match rear hitch, H120 loader, and the quick hitch snow plow blade, it literally only takes a few minutes to change implements, which is VERY nice - saves a lot of time and gets the chores done faster. I highly recommend this tractor for anyone who has a small farm/ranch or a big yard. It's a very dependable workhorse. Another bonus - 5 gallons of diesel goes a long way in this tractor. It's very cheap to operate.

Pros

  • reliability
  • ease of operation
  • size is perfect for use around the house
  • ease of changing implements
  • fuel economy

Cons

  • can't really think of any

There's more comfort in this little tractor than a nap on grandma's lap! Everything is logically laid out and functionally located. Visibility is great and getting on and off either side is a breeze. The tilt wheel makes all the difference in the world. Getting in and out of the loader and mower is a fast, easy and convenient.! You'll love the long list of attachments for this tractor. The 1025 R really is a dandy little tractor.

1025 TLB FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!

5/5

Bought a new 1025TLB from my dealer here in Princeton. It definitely has great power and the hydraulics are incredible strong! I am already on my 5th stump and what a ball to operate! Wish I would have purchased it long ago! I also added the Barracuda thumb--excellent addition. Cost was only $330 and really helps with stumps and brush piles. Also bought the 54 inch snow blower for front. Because the FEL is so easy to remove, it makes the snow blower attachment process easy. Now just waiting for our first snow. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone. The product development folks have really gotten this model right--Congrats JD!

Best of the best

5/5

I bought the 1025R, mid mount mower with bagger, bucket, pallet forks, block heater, extra lights/light guards and hydraulic snow plow. Wish I would have looked at the ZM industries 960 snow pusher instead of the snow plow. Although I haven't used the plow yet, however the pusher might be more useful. The machine is very powerful and runs super. Z&M ag and turf (Falconer)are the best. Rod Ruttenbur knows his stuff. I shopped the Kubota. However I found the controls to look and feel cheap. The hydraulic control handle is huge. Also, the quick attach bucket, and mower deck on the Deere is tons easier on and off. (I tried both out) Don't get fooled by the sales pitch. "Kubota has steel hood and fenders" It rattles more compared to the Deere. Also the plastic doesn't rust and rattle. If you are going to spend the money, the Deere is close in price. And Deere service is tons better if you need it.

  • attachments are a breeze to put on and take off

1025r Working beast

5/5

I have run my 1025r for 55 hours since Jan 2015. I bought 54 inch snow thrower, 60 inch mmm, FEL, backhoe, and weight box. Non-JD clamp on forks and subsoiler too. I have 6 acres, 2 lawn, 4 woods. I down sized from a larger 36 hp tractor and consolidated 3 machines. The snow blower was timely with record snow in Boston. It went through more than 2' no problem. 11 hrs blowing in half time as before. I put in 15 hrs mowing, half time as before. I moved 20 trees of brush with forks. Moved 50 tree lengths 8-12' with forks. I pulled 1-3000 lb logs with cable out of swamp. I moved yards of manure, graded, subsoiled 25'x50' garden. I used forks and long pallet to lift material to barn loft. I dug up 6 stumps 12-20" diameter and planted 12 trees and bushes. I pulled 6 cords firewood up ice and snow path, uphill 300' to house all winter, no problem. Implement change is a breeze. Think this is not enough machine? Think again.

  • does everything
  • implement change

Plus is great fuel economy and power. But 5 trips to the dealer in less than a year. It's a mower that will not mow anywhere close to even. 3 point arm has literally fallen off twice. 3 point control lever has come loose 3 times. Good overall tractor, could still use some updates

4/5

Seat suspension could be improved for mowing on rough ground, maybe an aftermarket kit like available on the Z-traks. Auto connect deck, when working is fantastic, but when it get a little out of adjustment is a pain in the rear. Side panels could use a different type connector/holder to eliminate having to take a wrench to remove. Maybe something similar to the old 755/855 series. Needs heavier tires on front when using with a loader. Love the mulch kit on the 60 Auto Connect deck. Is cleaner to operate, and leaves the lawns looking better than my Z930A.

4/5

I have had the tractor almost a year now and have just about 50 hours on it. I have not had any issues with any of the mechanical features, the only real problem I seem to have is the with the headlight switch, some of the switches do not appear that quality. And the only other thing I would like is a little more power on the 3 pt hitch. But the machine worked great and I have never second guessed getting one. Worth stepping up to the 1025, the features and power are worth every penny.

1025R .. after two weeks it was broke

1/5

after two weeks the auto connect deck quit being an auto connect deck. first the PTO drive shaft was bad, then they brought it back and said it was fixed backed it out of the garage and the deck was rubbing on tires. dealer came took the tractor back to the shop for the second time and brought it back again and said it was fixed and brought it back. Got on the tractor that night took the deck off and went to put it back on and the PTO again didn't line up and deck would not go on. told them come get this piece of junk. Really 3 times now with same problem within 3 weeks and still can't fix the problem give me my money back so I can get me a tractor that will work like it's supposed to. Once I get it back it will be for sale. What a shame spending 17K on a tractor that broke only after 2 weeks.

All Around Great Tractor

5/5

I bought this tractor just in time to replant my lawn after having geothermal installed. Contractor left my yard very rough. I bought the tractor, loader, rear blade, tiller, and 60in deck. Worked great for leveling and tilling yard. A larger machine may have made the job easier but would be unnecessary afterwards. I can't believe how well the John Deere tiller works. 25 horsepower and the cut of the 60" mower deck makes mowing fun again, and is pretty comfortable too. Did I mention the power this machine has, plenty to go around. I take care of it but I don't baby this thing either. It is a tool and I use it like one. It performs any job with ease. I put my wife on it with the loader while me and the kids picked up stones. I showed her once and she was able to operate it with ease. The only problem I've had was I had to tighten 3pt lever nut on shaft. Quick attach deck and loader makes switching tasks a piece of cake. My brother works for a large local farmer and operates the big tractors. He borrowed my 1025R for a large landscaping job for a week. He's called the dealer and now has his own on order.

our 1025 is a real work horse

5/5

this summer alone not counting last winter. I have rototilled approximately 1/4 of our .88 acer. Missed up and now have to rerototill again next spring. Have removed and stacked into two piles aprox. 20 to 25 yards yards of soil. Have hauled ten yards of crushed rock to make a drive way around the back yard. hauled ten yard of 3/4 minus washed rock into the back yard for walking paths. Have hauled four pallets of 6x12x16 retainer wall blocks six at a time( tried 8 and the back wheels would come off of the ground). Into the back yard for two retainer walls. I have hauled sand, lumber, fenceing, dirt, assemble planter boxes, potting soil, crushed rock, washed rock and used the bucket to pull old post, a work bench and assembly table. I had inner tubes installed and filled with a soy bean material to add weight to the tires to control slippage on grass and damp dirt it really helped with the traction. As you can see I am not displeased with my 1025E. That little work horse has accomplished all and surpassed my expectations.
