Get a clean cut with the flat-top design of the 48-in. (122-cm) Accel Deep™ (48A) Mower Deck

ZTrak™ Z325E with 48A Mower Deck ZTrak™ Z325E with 48A Mower Deck

The 48-in. (122-cm) Accel Deep Mower Deck is a forged-steel, deep, flat-top design that delivers excellent cut quality, productivity, cleanliness, durability, and versatility. Optimal performance and dispersion of clippings is provided, even at faster mowing speeds or in tall grass:

  • 4.83-in. (12.3-cm) deep throughout the entire deck shell for optimum mowing and mulching performance
    • Optional MulchControl™ system provides superior mulching performance and versatility.
  • Forged-steel design eliminates sharp edges and corners where material can build up and diminish mowing performance
  • Mower deck is suspended from the vehicle for a smooth and level cut
    • Adjustable mower wheels, positioned just above ground level, help reduce scalping
  • 0.25-in. (6.4-mm) cut-height increments allow the mower to be set at the desired cut height
Excellent cut quality
48A Mower Deck top 48A Mower Deck top
48A Mower Deck underside 48A Mower Deck underside

Deep mower-deck forging gives excellent cut quality. It allows the cut and suspended material room to exit the deck without getting recut:

  • Reducing the amount of re-cutting enables more power to be used to cut incoming grass, which greatly improves mower capacity.
    • Helps maintain excellent cut quality at faster mowing speeds
  • Clean flow of material out of discharge area prevents cut material from interfering with cutting the incoming grass, making it possible for the blades to cut incoming material cleanly.
  • Even in mulching mode, cut evenness is improved compared to other designs because the additional depth allows for continuous circulation, optimal re-cutting, and an even distribution of clippings.
Productivity - getting the job done fast
Right side of Accel Deep 48A Mower Deck Right side of Accel Deep 48A Mower Deck

Deep mower-deck forging gives high productivity, which gets the job done fast. It allows the cut and suspended material room to exit the deck quickly, reducing the amount of recutting so more power is available to process incoming grass:

  • Greatly improves mowers capacity to maintain excellent mowing performance in difficult mowing conditions and at higher speeds

Large discharge opening is both high and wide to handle more material:

  • Gives a smooth, even discharge of clippings at all mowing speeds
  • Reduces the chance of plugging, especially important when operating in wet, thick, or dense grass
Cleanliness - for the mower and the operator
Accel Deep 48A Mower Deck Accel Deep 48A Mower Deck

The flat-top shape of the deck forging is optimal for keeping itself and the operator clean:

  • There are few places to catch and hold material on top and underneath the deck.
    • Top of deck stays cleaner, reducing time and effort needed for cleaning and service
    • Underside of deck is self-cleaning to maintain optimum performance without buildup of material to interfere with the flow of air and clippings
    • Less need to clean and remove buildup of material from underside deck
  • The depth of the Accel Deep Mower Deck minimizes the amount of material that escapes from the front of the deck
    • Limited amount of material to drift onto the operator and mower deck
    • Even for material discharged out the chute, less recutting results in larger pieces that are less likely to end up on the operator
    • Mulching prevents the discharge of material completely and MulchControl makes mulching a practical solution for most mowing situations.

Cleaning a mower deck, both top and bottom, is one of the most frequent maintenance activities:

  • The flat-top design reduces places for material to build up and makes material that does collect easy to remove.

Mower wheels are double captured Mower wheels are double captured

The 48A Mower Deck has strong spindle pockets, to keep the blades aligned, even after years of tough service:

  • Forged from strong 10-gauge, 0.135-in. (3.4-mm) steel
  • Ribs in the deck shell add strength where it is needed.
  • The 48A has a 23 percent heavier overall weight than the Edge™ Xtra 48-in. (122-cm) Mower Deck used on previous machines.

Mower wheels are double captured:

  • Provides greater strength and durability for longer, trouble-free life.
  • Single-bolt adjustment makes setting wheels to the correct height for the cutting height quick and easy.

Low-tension belt-drive design reduces the side load on engine lower bearings and mower deck bearings for longer life.

The 48A Mower Deck features a 5/8-in. (16-mm) diameter solid-steel rod side bumper that provides extra strength and protection.

Dual-stage E-coat and powder-paint coatings provide extra protection from rust.

Versatility - easy to change between side discharge and mulch modes

The 48A Mower Deck is designed for maximum versatility, providing the greatest ease in changing from one mower discharge mode to another:

  • With MulchControl, changing from side discharge to mulching or vice versa is done with the simple flip of a lever.
MulchControl option

The MulchControl system for the 48A Mower Deck is an optional field-installed attachment and makes mulching practical for many mowing situations because it not only does an excellent job of mulching but it also allows the mower to be easily converted for times when it is more desirable to side discharge the lawn material. Advantages of mulching grass clippings include:

  • A beautiful looking lawn
  • Grass clippings not blown onto the operator, driveways, or flower beds
  • Less fertilizer use
  • Elimination of the effort needed to dispose of clippings
How MulchControl works
MulchControl baffle open MulchControl baffle open
MulchControl baffle closed MulchControl baffle closed

MulchControl is an innovative, simple design that is easy to use and maintain:

  • The MulchControl attachment includes baffles to control the flow of material under the deck.
    • The MulchControl baffle, or divider, between the left and middle spindles is about halfway down. The height is designed to balance the mulching and side-discharge modes.
    • When the MulchControl baffle is open, the divider between the left and middle spindles passes a portion of the material to the discharge opening, along with the material from the middle and right spindle areas.
    • When the MulchControl baffle is closed, the material stays within the deck and gets chopped into mulch and deposited in the turf.
MulchControl handle MulchControl handle
  • The MulchControl handle is located on top of the mower deck and used to open and close the discharge baffle.
    • The operator is required to get off the machine in order to engage or disengage mulch mode.
  • Changing from mulching to side discharge or vice versa takes only a few seconds.

MulchControl is well-suited to the following mowing situations:

  • Usually mulch, but side discharge when grass gets too long
  • Usually side-discharge, but would like to be able to close the chute to control clippings
  • Always mulch a main lawn, but often side discharge secondary lawns

MulchControl puts the operator in control of the clippings. The operator can have all the benefits of mulching with the ability to easily change to side discharge when needed.

While in the side-discharge mode, MulchControl still mulches about one-third of the material. Therefore, the side-discharge mode is essentially a partial-mulch mode. This can be an advantage as it helps to reduce the amount of material being discharged. Other times this could work as a disadvantage:

  • When cutting strong southern grasses, such as Zoysia and Bermuda
  • When cutting in wet, high-growth conditions, such as those found in the Pacific Northwest United States
  • When optimum bagging and lawn cleanup is desired

The bagger design provides modern styling, great bagging performance, cleaner operation, and easy-to-empty bags:

  • Easy-to-attach Power Flow blower and chute
  • Power Flow blower swings out for easy cleanout and cleanup
  • Air exhaust duct
  • Convenient spring-latch

Satisfied So Far

5/5

I purchased this product about 2 months ago. As my luck would have it we experienced a really dry summer and I have only been able to use the machine 3 times now .However, the times that I have used it have left me very glad I bought this mower. It has cut my mowing time considerably and since i can raise the deck to over four inches I can go over any grass piles and it disperses the grass throughout the yard thus no more raking up those grass piles. Also the dispersed grass acts as great fertilizer for the lawn. Again, I have only used it three times so i just hope that this mower will continue to do what it has done so far in the future as it definitely has fulfilled my expectations.

5/5

About half of our 4 acres is grass. While I have never (and will never) enjoyed mowing the lawn, this new Z330R is the finest tool for the job. When blowing the clippings off of the top of the mower deck, things are made easy thanks to the lift-up pulley covers and the removable upper deck which allows access to the entire mower deck. It is mated with a powerful Kawasaki engine that cuts tall and thick grass and weeds with ease. I especially like the 20-inch seat and the large rear wheels.

I’ve had z330r for a little over a month. Not happy with cut quality. Have to go over lawn twice and still have spots some grass standing. Clover flower tops stand straight up after pass. Have mulch kit. Also the loudest lawnmower I’ve ever had. Wish I like z330r halve as much as my 1025R I would be happy.

John Deere in Charleston SC

5/5

I would have never thought to purchase a John Deere until a friend from up north told me how much she loved their JD. She told me if I buy a Deere, I would have it for life. I did my investigation and made the purchase. It is a great machine. The way it cuts leaves a beautiful lawn. My neighbors with other mowers comment on the grass after I cut it. It rides so nice I don't feel beat up after being on it. Also, it cut my grass cutting time in half. My JD makes me feel like I belong to an elite club.

Great Mower, but needs one thing

5/5

So far I love the mower. It cuts very well. I am still getting used to the controls, but I am almost there. My only complaint so far, is that for a mower in this price range, is the lack of a fuel gauge. Everything else seems so well laid out that the exclusion seems odd. Yes, I know the gas tank is translucent, but that doesn't help me much. I would prefer a gas gauge. Even if I have to buy one after the fact. If you know of one I can buy, please let me know.

Beware of quality

1/5

John deere quality has suffered from my past experience with the mowers. I bought a brand new z330r mower. Within 15 minutes of first use the belt snapped. Dealer picked up machine and installed new belt. Again in 20 minutes the belt snapped again. Dealer picked up machine. This is 2 belts torn up in less than 45 minutes of use. I was without the mower for 1 week while dealer waited for new belt to arrive and install. Dealer claims a "defective guide" from the factory was to blame for tearing belts. Upon the 3rd delivery my power flo bagging system did not work because dealer mechanics mowed long wet grass while testing. A total of 3 service visits with just under 1.5 hours on machine. I was a loyal brand believer but not after this.

Love everything about the machine except the design of the deck washout port over only 1 of the blade sections. Poorly designed at that. Nothing over the other 2 blade sections so you still have to drive the machine up on ramps to thoroughly wash under the deck.

I really like the mower. I was just disappointed in the stock tires that came with the mower. I could not get any traction on any sort of a slope which led to some scary moments as it drifted down the hill without steering. The mower itself is comfortable and effective. Now that I bought aftermarket tires for it, I am looking forward to many years of happy mowing.

Had for a little over a month plenty of power and a comfortable ride and leaves the yard looking great. My only complaint is there's no visible gas gage and have to lift seat to check fuel level. Best part in my opinion is the easy deck adjustment. I’ve only had for a month, so far so good. It’s replacing a 23 yr old JD LX277 (engine finally gave out). Zero Turn takes some getting used to, a different driving style. Only glitch (minor), mowing some overgrowth and something popped the right drive disengagement handle off, once back in place, working fine. Looking forward to another 20+ years!

The Power Flow MCS the grass is much easier to pick up. Although the bags are much more difficult to empty because of their shape, it is still a time saver with plenty of power and speed.

After a month of use

4/5

I'm very impressed with the mulching option so far it has done a far better job than my previous machine. The John Deer could benefit from wider / softer tires for better traction. Several times in soft wetter spots a wheel would just spin when I don't think that my previous machine would have with it's large soft tires.

Striping Kit Attachment - Terrible

3/5

Mower runs well and everything I had hoped for. However I wanted something that not only ran well but left the tard looking excellent as well. Broom attachment / striping kit is horrible. 2 Ag-Pro shops couldn't figure out how to attach it to the 54" deck. Bolts provided for the attachment were too short for mounting as well. Doesn't stripe at all and I have messed around with the height more than I care to mention. As an added bonus, with this attachment, you can no longer fit a oil drip pan in the designated area to drain the engine oil when changing. The hose is a 1/4" short of being able to run it out the back. So I have a quality mower that overall doesn't provide the cut I want and provides additional aggravation in maintenance that was designed to be easy.

Love the zero turn. Cut the grass every day for the first week. Was very unhappy when I purchased from the dealer. I had lots of questions at the time of purchase and the young guy that loaded it on my trailer who I purchased from, it must have been his first day on the job with JOHN DEER. I must have had eight or 10 questions about the John Deere zero turn, and he was unable to answer my questions.

I've used it three times and it cuts great. It meets my needs perfectly. It's easy to operate. The deck clean hose adapter is easy to use to keep the deck clean. Great Zeroturn

5/5

I bought this on March 15, the machine is great, The dealer leaves some things to be desired. coordination with the sales person was a bit disjointed, but the delivery was very disappointing. When it The finally showed up as he was driving up my driveway the first thing I noticed is how dirty it was not like it had been used, but was sitting outside and no one took the time to clean it up. The sales person handed me a Ziploc bag with the owners manual and a spare key in it. He went over the use of the machine and left. I then drove the machine on my property and it was obvious to me that no one had checked the tire pressures, it rode like rocks and when I checked the tire pressures the next day they were way over inflated. I went to hook up a cart to pick up limbs I had cut up and there was no trailer hitch which this model is supposed to have one. I thought I’ll have to call about that I lifted the seat to check the fuel level and lo and behold the under the seat is another owners manual, spare key and the missing trailer hitch. Obviously the salesperson never checked. Installing the trailer hitch is no big deal It’s only two bolts, but I’m 66 years old a retired paramedic with bad knees and back. My two small fingers were the only thing that would fit in the space to hold the nuts in place so I had to basically get on the ground and stick my feet underneath the machine to install the trailer hitch. Again, no big deal, but I shouldn’t of had to do it in the first place It should’ve been done prior to leaving the dealer. Now to get to the real review of the machine, it’s a great machine. It does everything they say it’s supposed to do. It’s very comfortable on my rough property, it’s easy to clean up, which was a problem with my previous one. The maneuverability is magnificent. I am very happy with the machine, it’s everything I was hoping it would be. Even filling the gas tank is much easier the my previous tractor.

Z330R

5/5

I've had the Z33R for more than a month now and put 8 hours on it. Great mower with plenty of power from the 23 HP Kawasaki motor. Controls are crisp. The added features of the R, like the folding armrest are a must at my age. This thing is fun to operate and my wife thinks I bought is as a toy as I find reasons to fire it up and use it. Makes mowing my 1 acre lot a breeze. My only complaint is the deck washout hose port. On the 54" deck, it rinses the grass out so so but just doesn't get all of it.

So far so great

4/5

First time zero turn owner and it is learning curve. The Ztrack has lots of power to pull itself up embankments. This is one of the main reasons I chose John Deere, power. I would have given 5 stars as I am a diehard John Deere buyer, but I bought this when it was cooler weather, so I have not cut any grass yet. The start key is in a bit of an odd location, but I have no idea where else they would put it. It responds quickly on turns, starts up first crank fits in the shed and moves faster than I need it too. Much more comfortable seat than my 2006 190 series has. It has put the fun back into cutting grass. I look forward to using it.

The all new Z330R ZTRax

5/5

What a awesome mower. Twenty five years ago I was in the lawn maintenance business for 17 years and buying commercial mowers was all I knew, so when we moved to a new property with a acre lot I knew what to do. I searched out a 48 "Z910a commercial mower for my new yard. I used that mower for 5 years and then one day I couldn't pass up a offer from a neighbor who wanted to buy it. So off to Everglades Farm Equipment to buy a new mower. I really didn't need another commercial mower so after discussing my needs with the salesman I settled on the Z330R-ZTrax mower with a 48" deck with all the options. This mower is a little smaller in size and weighs about half of the Z910a,, again not a commercial unit. With that being said it cuts very nice , no heavy tire tracks in my yard when done mowing and its almost as fast as its big brother, fast enough for me with plenty of power that provided by a 23hp Kawasaki . I added the front deck step and rear bumper , the bumper isn't needed but I thought it looked nice with a little added protection. All in all a very nice mower and not to mention great people to deal with at my local John Deere dealer , so a big thank you to everyone at Everglades Farm Equipment.

I love how the park brake is in the sticks.

4/5

I love the mower but the long deck belt for the blades does not hold up, John Deere has a problem with this and they know it. Mine broke at around 110 hours and then the dealer told me they don’t want to warranty this. I told them figure it out I’m not paying for it! Deck belts everybody!! Promise!

Excellent Machine

I bought the mower several months ago and am so glad that I did. It makes super light and easy work of my lawn, and my Parents larger lawn. My Dad is super impressed with how comfortable and fast the mower goes while cutting. I'd expect nothing less from this mower: the cut is amazing, ride is comfortable and it has been such a time saver over the push mower!

No complaints, so far, except for the fuel pump that needed replaced after 10 hours. They covered it under warranty at least.
