John Deere’s compact utility tractors are the perfect versatile tools for homeowners, hobby farmers, homesteaders and much more. The only question is: which one is best for you? Below, we’ll break down the specs on some of our most popular models.

1 Series
The 1 Series is ideal for small property owners, working up to 5 acres of land. Although they’re the smallest of the bunch, they’ve definitely earned their place among our most popular models. Between their versatility, their maneuverability and their price, these are certainly fan-favorites.

2 Series
On slightly larger properties, ranging 5-10 acres, we recommend the 2 Series. Although the John Deere 2025R is matched in horsepower by the 1025R, you’ll still benefit from a larger lift capacity and larger wheelbase. For heavier lifting or rougher grounds, this tractor will better suit your needs.

3 Series
John Deere 3 Series compact tractors are perfect for 10-20 acres of property. With plenty of PTO power, you’ll have no trouble with heavy tasks such as bush hogging, backhoeing, carrying heavy materials, and anything else you challenge it with.

4 Series
For larger properties, up to 40 acres, we recommend 4 Series tractors. The popular 4044M is a workhorse of a compact tractor, with the capacity to lift up to 2,500 lbs. With a 73-inch wheelbase, they are still highly maneuverable, user-friendly tractors for everyday use, from the lawn to the pasture.
